I'm looking forward to working with our new slate of officers. It's always good to have a new and fresh perspective and Rhonda and Marsha are bringing a lot of excitement to our group, along with the stability of Betty Jo and Joan I think we'll have a great year. Our next meeting is Monday, September 4. It's dues time... time to rejoin and encourage a friend to join us. You'll get a challenge from your president and reminder about our Christmas theme table runners. If you have any ideas how we can make our club better, please don't hesitate to let me know. Think of what you'd like to learn and do. Keep those machines a humming.... Upcoming events and ideas were discussed. At 7 PM, President Evelyn Smith called the regular meeting to order. Evelyn Smith provided refreshments for the meeting. 28 members were present. August birthdays were recongized and each received a fat quarter. Betty Jo Moss presented the Treaurer’s Report with a balance of $615.82. New Business: Elections were held. Nominations were taken from ballots completed at the last meeting and from the floor. The new elected officers are: Mattie Spaulding President; Rhonda Barnett and Marsha Cole Co-Vice Presidents; Betty Jo Moss Secretary; Joan Beard Treasurer. The President table runner challenge was due and all the table runners were exchanged. Block of the Month: Rhonda Barnett, Marsha Cole, Betty Sutherland, Betty Jo Moss, Peggianna Miller, Clara Tingle, Linda Marean and Dianne O’Neal made blocks. Marsha Cole and Clara Tingle won the prizes for their partipation. Show & Tell: Joan Beard table runner Shelia Dolan - Needlepoint, Redwork Halloween House, Potholder Sample Block Quilt Dues will be collected this month.

Ladies, thank you for your confidence in me, I hope I can live up to your expectations. I'm looking

forward to working with our new slate of officers. It's always good to have a new and fresh perspective

and Rhonda and Marsha are bringing a lot of excitement to our group, along with the stability of Betty

Jo and Joan I think we'll have a great year.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Betty Jo Moss - Secretary

The Guild Board met at 6:00 PM. Upcoming events and ideas were discussed. At 7 PM, President

Evelyn Smith called the regular meeting to order. Evelyn Smith provided refreshments for the meeting.

28 members were present. August birthdays were recongized and each received a fat quarter. Betty Jo

Moss presented the Treaurer’s Report with a balance of $615.82.

New Business:

Elections were held. Nominations were taken from ballots completed at the last meeting and from the

TREASURER’S REPORT: Joan Beard ~ Treasurer

The bank balance is $615.82.

Bonus Pattern (Actually filling a little space.)

Easy Peasy:

1. Cut 2 squares of background fabric and 2

squares and a strip of fall fabric for the stem.

2. Appliqué the stem to one of the Background squares

3. Cut 2 squares of background fabric and 2 of fall

fabric 1/2” wider then the whole squares. Use to make 4

Half square triangles with fall fabric and background

fabric.

4. Sew together as shown.

Now you are asking what size. This 9 patch so use a size that can be divided by 3 such as 9. Each

block before adding the seam allowance would be 3”. (12 would be 4”.) Add ½ inch for the whole

block and 1 inch to the HSTs blocks. Be sure to square up the HSTs before assembling the block.

Virginia Apple Pudding

Prep Time: 10 Minutes; Cook Time: 30 Minutes; Ready In: 40 Minutes

Servings: 6

1/2 cup butter, melted 1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup white sugar 1 cup milk

1 cup all-purpose flour 2 cups chopped, peeled apple

2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

2. In a small baking dish, combine butter, sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and milk until smooth.

3. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine apples and cinnamon. Microwave until apples are soft, 2 to 5

minutes. Pour apples into the center of the batter.

4. Bake in the preheated oven 30 minutes, or until golden.

inches after completing the appliqué.)
