However, as Winnie the Pooh says “How lucky am I”! I really don’t know how to begin to say thank you to all the wonderful people who have been a part of those years – the students, their families and of course, the awesome staff. I will take away many, many fabulous memories and life-long friendships. I am sure that you all recognize, by now, just how special I believe Eden Hill is, and it is because of everyone in the ‘team’ that makes up our school. The new Principal is a very, very lucky person to be joining this wonderful school. I wish them all the best and hope that they too will have the opportunity to be a part of this amazing team – the Eden Hill Family. As a final note, I would like to add this quote from one of my favourite books, The invisible String by Patrice Karst, which I used with last year’s Graduating Class. Whenever I am missing you, I will remind myself that I will always be connected to Eden Hill: “People who love each other are always connected By a very special string made of love Even though you can’t see it with your eyes, you can feel it with your heart and know that you’re always connected to everyone you love Everyone in the world is connected by Invisible Strings … no one is ever alone.” Thank you and farewell to everyone that has made my job the best job in the world – I will miss you all. A Final Farewell
Oh my goodness, this is so hard – to say goodbye – to write what I want to say and to say how I feel after more than 23 years at the most amazing school in the entire world!
Whenever I am missing you, I will remind myself that I will always be connected to Eden Hill:
“People who love each other are always connected By a very special string made of love

Thank you and farewell to everyone that has made my job the best job in the world – I will miss you all.

Our vision: To strive for excellence by working collaboratively and respectfully with our students to build strong, meaningful connections with our community.
Term 3 Planner A Term 3 planner has been included in this newsletter. Please note however, that we are occasionally forced to make changes due to unforeseen circumstances. Updates will be made to our Term planner on our schools website.
Parent Teacher Meetings On Wednesday, 7th August the school will be holding parent teacher meetings. Students WILL NOT be attending school on this day. Meetings will be held between 12 noon and 6.00pm as this will give as many parents as possible, the opportunity to attend. A letter will be sent home with students early next term, explaining the process to book the parent teacher meetings. On the back of the letter is the surname login and PIN that parents require to access the website. The bookings will be made online using a website called PTO. We encourage all parents to attend the parent teacher meetings.
Interschool Cross Country Our school’s cross country team competed in the Annual Guildford Cross Country Championship last Wednesday. Sincere thanks must go to our ‘coaches’ and to the students for their hard work too. Eden Hill came runner up in Stirling Division. Well done team!
Special congratulations go to: Sienna Jones - 1st place, Lina Allen, Lauren Catley & Daniel Errington - 2nd place in their year groups.
Deputy’s Luncheon Our Deputy’s Luncheon was held on Wednesday for some of our outstanding students. Tip 4 - Install a modern dual-flush toilet, which uses only 4.5 or 6 litres for a full-flush and 3 litres for a half-flush (single-flush toilets use 11 litres every flush).

Bullying Here is our next article on Bullying.
Talking with your children if they are bullying others
All children are capable of bullying and it is important for you to respond in a calm and helpful manner if your child is displaying bullying behaviours. These strategies also apply if you believe your child may be bullying others online.
Encouraging your children not to bully others
You can:
Talk with your children about what is acceptable behaviour and what is not, online and offline e.g. “we should not send nasty messages to people to make them feel bad”.
Work together with your family to establish simple rules and expectations about how your family treat each other.
Work with your family to establish clear guidelines about internet use at home.
Encourage and provide opportunities for your children to openly discuss bullying issues, including cyberbullying with the family
Discuss friendship and help your children to make friends by encouraging them to play with other children at school, at home or in the neighbourhood.
Discuss with your children how to be a friend online.
Invite other children to your home for visits and teach your children how to make their guests feel welcome.
Encourage your children to share and be aware of the feelings of others.
Chaplains Chatter
Brian Dyson, a former Chairman of Coca Cola, said the following in a public address: ‘Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air. You name them; work, family, health, friends and spirit. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls – family, health, friends and spirit – are made of glass. If you drop any of these they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand and strive for balance in your life.’
We know this is true, but it is sometimes hard to keep things in perspective, but it is so worth the effort, because at the end of the day it is relationships which matter the most, not achievement. This holiday break try and make time to build into your relationships with your kids and make some great memories.

Dad’s Sunday Skating
Eden Hill Dads returned to the Perth Ice Area on Sunday the 30th of June. Ice Skating with Dad is always such a popular event and this time saw our biggest turnout. We had over 90 people attend Sunday's event, with families from all years, and many new faces. It was so great to look out on the ice and see Dads helping young kids skate for the first time, I believe some of our year 6's also started a game of TAG on the Ice. Thank you to everyone that attended, it really is great to see our fathering group growing. If you want to be part of our fathering group email Jeremy at [email protected], we have a very exciting event that we are planning for term 3 so look out for that one.
