NewsBite n°5 ___________________________________________________________________________ May 2014 Primary Semaine banalisée – non-timetable week After a great Spring break, Primary children are now gearing up for the ‘ semaine banalisée’ (non-timetable week) and lots of other exciting activities. For the week of May 19 th , the children won’t be having their regular English timetable. Sports Day will be organized for CE1 and CE2 on Monday 19 th and - weather permitting - for CP and CM2 on Tuesday 20 th in Gerland Park. Prize-giving will be at 3.45 on Tuesday afternoon. We will be taking the CM1s away on a three-day residential trip to St Bonneau-le-Courreau (in the Forez mountains) from Wednesday 21 st to Friday 23rd. We have planned a range of ‘country pursuit’ activities away from the cyber-world and the temptations of keyboards, screens and videos! Check out the next issue of NewsBite! CM1 parents’ reminder: Keep June 17 th free (late afternoon) Did someone say Flooding…? You may have seen CM2 students with furrowed brows this week or perhaps overheard them saying they were going to flood their English classrooms. Do not fear – all is under control! The CM2s have started an enquiry- based project on Water and are turning their classrooms into different aspects of the world of water. We’ll give you an update in the coming issues of NewsBite. I was born in Liverpool and I’m English. How did it feel to be new? At first it felt a bit different. I felt a bit weird but then I got used to it. It was hard to get to know people because I couldn’t speak French. How do you like the CSI? It’s fun and I’ve got lots of friends. I like drama and the canteen. It seems you like drama and acting. Why? Because we do lots of fun stuff in drama club like games and funny voices. We’ve just started a play called ‘The Ghost Next Door’. What’s your favourite subject in French? My favourite subject in French is maths…..well, actually I’ve got lots of favourite subjects. Inspired by their visit, the students of Ms Weinert's 4e class have created a fantastic game. The game charts the experience of people during the rapid developments of the nineteenth century.
