We are fortunate in Stoke D’Abernon to be surrounded by so much green open space which means we can combine the benefits of living in a semi -rural community with being close to fields, woods and footpaths. The Green Belt was introduced in 1938 as an inspired move to prevent the London urban sprawl. Green spaces are also vital for wildlife, rainwater absorption and recreation. Many residents believe our area is already overcrowded whilst others see a pressing need for more houses for future generations. At particular risk of housing development are the fields either side of Blundell Lane and both sides of the rail bridge. The future of the Green Belt has been the subject of recent public consultation and voters will have the opportunity in May to decide which candidates for Elmbridge Council offer the best chance of preserving our local Green Belt. Anyone interested can follow the information and advice provided by the Cobham Green Belt. www.cobhamgreenbelt.org.uk See Overleaf APRIL Wed 1 April 10.30am 12.30pm Holy Communion followed by discussion group followed by Lent lunch Sunday 5 April Palm Sunday 8am 10am 6pm Holy Communion Choral Eucharist with visit from a donkey Evensong Monday 6 April Monday of Holy Week 8.30pm Compline Tuesday 7 April Tuesday of Holy Week 8.30pm Compline Wednesday 8 April Wednesday of Holy Week 10.30am 8.30pm Holy Communion Compline Thursday 9 April Maundy Thursday 8.30pm Parish Eucharist Friday 10 April Good Friday 12-3pm 3 hour devotion Sunday 12 April Easter Day 8am 10am Holy Communion Festal Eucharist with Easter Egg hunt afterwards No Evensong Wednesday 15 April 12.30pm Parish lunch Sunday 19 April Easter 2 8am 10am 6pm Holy Communion Parish Eucharist with baptism Evensong Thursday 23 April 12.30pm 1-2pm Coffee served before Organ concert in Church Sunday 26 April Easter 3 8am 10am 11am 6pm Holy Communion Parish Eucharist with baptism APCM Evensong MAY Friday 1 May 7pm St Mary’s Quiz Night Sunday 3 May Easter 4 8am 10am 6pm Holy Communion Choral Eucharist Evensong Sunday 10 May Easter 5 8am 10am 6pm Holy Communion Family Service Evensong Thursday 14 May St Matthias 10.30am Holy Communion The Green Belt by Ian Nelson MOTHER & OTHERS GROUP Come and join us with your baby/toddler to get to know friendly faces in your community.
