Welcome to the first edition of Mardo News, our way of keeping you informed and up-to-date with the latest industry trends, fabrics and products. On June 1, 2013, Sharatan Window Fashions was officially rebranded to fly the Mardo flag. Just prior to the launch, you would have received our flyer that introduced you to a ‘whole new world at Mardo’. You may have also seen our Mardo stand at the 2013 SuperExpo, at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in June. The event attracted 4,500 trade visitors from Australia and overseas across the three exhibition days, and was an excellent opportunity to get the Mardo name out there. The SuperExpo proved to be a fantastic tool to display our product range, fabrics and components. The event allowed us to reach out to potential customers both locally and abroad, as well as to catch up with existing customers who dropped by to extend their well wishes on our rebranding. So why make such a change, since Sharatan has been in wholesale so long? Well, by aligning our manufacturing and wholesale division, Mardo now offers the most up-to-date, on-trend and innovative products as they go to market. Whether you are a retailer or manufacturer, Mardo is the one-stop shop for all your window covering needs, from components and fabrics to all custom made blinds, curtains, shutters and awnings. 1 NEWS December 2013 Issue No. 1 The transformation to Mardo

OMA Automation has been manufacturing tubular motors for electric blinds for over 15 years. OMA Automation is known for quality, reliability, dedication and precision.

The OMA Tubular Motor for Mardo Roller and Roman Blinds is convenient, practical and simple to programme. Each OMA motor comes with a set of brackets, remote control, dry connection switching cable, molex fitted power cord and motor keyway crown.

Your customers will not need to walk over to their blinds to manually raise or lower them. With the touch of a button, they can simply lift or close the blinds with OMA’s stylish remote control.

Selling advantages include:

• A 5-year product warranty

• Operation at minimal noise levels, at a speed of 30 RPM

• A favourite or mid-position setting can be programmed and activated easily

• Should a customer’s remote control get lost or accidentally damaged, a new one can be purchased through Mardo, and the settings can be transferred without hassle onto the new remote

• OMA Motors can be integrated with SMART wired homes like C-BUS or HAS with an appropriate relay

• An ideal solution for highlight windows on a mid or higher level stairwell as blinds can be remotely controlled with ease and convenience

• Cloning remote controls offers the customer the option to have a second remote to operate the same motor from an alternative location

• Multiple roller blinds on windows will have several control chains that may be noticeable when the blinds are up. Motorised blinds allow you to enjoy the outside view without distraction of control chains or cords

• The new remote control can be used to programme up to six motors, to control and operate individually or all at the same time

Stylishly designed and engineered, OMA’s new remote control is supplied with an extra battery and an easy-to-follow instruction manual that guides you through the programming steps.

Motor direction changing, cloning, and replacing old or lost remote controls like the previous version, is still very easy to set with the new remote.

The LED indicator, channel selection and transmit indications allow users to select the correct channel in low lighting conditions, and tells the user when the remote is transmitting.

Child safety in relation to blind cord incidents is a serious concern, and something we feel very strongly about at Mardo. Motorisation not only transforms the look of your blinds, but is the perfect way to eliminate the need for control chains or cords, making your blinds far safer. Motorisation should always be considered as an option for not only new blinds but also existing blinds.

Meet the team!

Sean Shwe – General Manager Operations

Welcomed to the group more than five years ago, Sean is leading the company’s daily operations as the General Manager. His management expertise spans the full spectrum of operational functions – purchasing, warehousing, manufacturing, distribution, administration, commercial and retail.

Prior to being named General Manager Operations, Sean served in such senior roles as Operations and Strategy Manager and Commercial Manager for three years, where he played a key role in the commercial direction to optimise business performance; in the identification of new business drivers; reporting on relevant market indicators; and managing business improvement projects. Sean is now focusing on Wholesale and is driving this sector in a big way.

Rebecca Ryan – Wholesale Manager, South Australia

Rebecca has been with KHL for over 22 years, and has come a long way since her days as a top achieving Sales Consultant in 1991. Since then she has held various positions including Commercial Manager, Sales Manager and State Manager. From State Manager, Bec moved into the role of Regional Manager South Australia and later took onboard New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia. Bec has been involved in areas such as sales and product training, performance appraisals, recruitment and customer service. With such extensive knowledge of the company and so many years service, we couldn’t wish for a better Wholesale Manager in South Australia.

Jill Willmore – Wholesale Manager Queensland

Jill began with the company in Queensland over 20 years ago in a clerical position, and quickly moved into the role of full-time Administration Assistant. In 2003, Jill was promoted to the role of Brand Co-ordinator and maintained this role until 2006, where she saw yet another promotion to Brand Manager. During this time she formed part of the Business Improvement Plan Team and travelled across Australia implementing procedures and carrying out training. In October 2012, Jill became Regional Manager Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. Just over a year on, Jill has yet again climbed the ladder to General Manager Queensland, and is now driving Queensland’s Wholesale Division.

Meet the team!

Romuald Thexeira – Wholesale Manager Western Australia & New South Wales

From an aircraft engineering background, Rom joined the company at the end of 2006, where he was responsible for taking inbound calls for customers wanting to book in fittings of orders. After six weeks, the CFO offered Rom a transfer to Accounts. Two months on, Rom was offered the position of National Customer Service Officer. Not long after this promotion, Rom climbed the ladder to the role of National Customer Service Manager, specialising in product/child safety. And not long after, he moved into the space of wholesale, commercial and agents with the title of Sharatan Window Fashions Wholesale Manager. Rom had a strong interest in the functions and programming aspects of our OMA motors, which alerted the General Manager Operations, who made him responsible for Motorisation. Rom is now not only our Wholesale Manager for WA and NSW, but is also our resident expert on Motorisation.
