Sometimes…

When you are reporting on news you only get bits of information as they come to you. Meaning, you need to work with the information you have until other tips and facts come in to the newsroom.

This happened more than you think, so that is the skill we are going to practice today.

Rules to this activity: 1. You must not talk during the activity, until the questioning part.

2. You must take notes about the information you are receiving (this will count as a grade).

3. At the end, you will get 5 minutes to come up with questions you want to ask the tip giver (Mrs. Hill).

4. The questions you ask may only be close-ended questions (“yes” or “no” questions). Only questions about the FACTS will be answered.

5. Once you think you have the story, you are going to write a 100 word press release! (This will be graded as well.) You will only get 15 minutes to write the story.

6. At the end of the activity, some of you may read your stories. Finally, Mrs. Hill will tell you the actual story that is happening and we can see how close you are. You will be given time to revise your story before the period is up.
