BUGLE CALL June 2020

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ!! Grace and Peace to you from God the Father;

From our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; In, with, and through the Holy Spirit. AMEN!!!

Thank all of you so much for your kind, thoughtful, and loving expressions of sympathy

during this difficult time, as our family is mourning the death of Betty’s father, Raymond

Ambrose Kleber.

Betty has known this wonderful man her entire life. I first met Ray when I picked Betty

up for our first date, the evening of Onalaska High School Prom. Ray came at me with a 110

camera to take Betty and my picture to mark that occasion. And I do not think that Ray, Betty

or I would have expected that relationship and interaction to have lasted 45 or so years. What a

gift God gives us in the people that move into and stay in our lives.

I don’t have much to say this month, except that I pray that all of you stay healthy and

safe, and not to be in too big a rush to get back to ‘normal’, which I do not think we may ever

return to. The world in some ways is a different place because of Covid-19. But the world is

still the same place in that God loves the World so much that God gave the World God’s Son,

Jesus Christ, so that none of us need perish utterly, but have life eternal through faith in Jesus

Christ.

And for that all of us can say, AMEN!!

Here are some photos that our family will hold in our hearts.

b

God’s Peace to all of you

Pastor Don and Betty <><

Simply Giving…

The Simply Giving Program is a simple way to give to St Peter’s and in giving gifts to the Lord.

With the Simply Giving Program, you may choose to give weekly or monthly or semi-monthly, with deductions coming out of your checking or savings on the days that you designate the withdrawal. You may make choices as to the amount you want to give for individual accounts; Be it the General Fund, Property & Maintenance, LSS, Missions, etc.

The form is just one page and the rest is automatically taken care of for you. All information is kept privately by those individuals involved in setting up your account.

Contact the office for an enrollment form and to answer any questions you may have. An ‘effective date’ of three weeks is allowed for the paperwork to be processed.

We encourage you to consider this way of truly giving the Biblical ‘first fruits’ to the Lord. We are sure you stewardship will be enhanced by this convenient, consistent way of giving. Please consider mailing your offerings to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church P.O. Box 155, Loganville WI 53943. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Message from Vicar Tyler;

I sought the Lord, and God answered me,

and delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4)

The Lord delivers you from all your fears. One of the most repeated sayings in the Bible is “do not be

afraid.” We need to be reminded of these words. Jesus says, “Do not be afraid.” Jesus says, “Do not let your

hearts be troubled. We need to hear the words, especially right now. We need to hear the words “Do not be

afraid,” as we continue to live in a world that is full of fear.

Our journey is long and tiring. Some days it feels like we will never get back to our regular routines. It

has now been over two months since we have gathered for worship in-person. In this time away from all of you

and away from my own family and friends, I have also felt the worry and anxiety that comes with the

Coronavirus. We all fear for the safety of our loved ones. We feel the loneliness and isolation from being away

from one another. We worry about the financial security of our friends and families. We are losing control. We

are afraid of our loss of control. Our immediate response is to seize the control where we can find it. We desire

something normal and routine. The will be no more normal or routine. This virus has changed our lives. It has

changed who we are as a worshiping community. We try to seize that control, but it is not there to seize. There

is are many reasons to be afraid.

However, Jesus says to you, “Do not be afraid.” Trust in God. Right before Jesus is arrested, he reminds

his disciples to trust in him. Trust in the God who creates all people and things. Trust in the God who dies and is

resurrected to that you may have life. Trust in the God who breathes life into you. Trust the God who transforms

communities. Trust that God is making all things new. We continue to place our trust in God. We hope for

everlasting life and abundance. As we continue to endure the fear and anxiety that this virus brings, we trust in

the God who comforts us and gives us life. God loves you and tells you to not be afraid.

Let us Pray,

Merciful God, in the stillness of our souls we listen for your voice to know again that you are God. Quiet

our restless hearts with the knowledge that you are near us, keeping watch over your own. Rekindle our faith

and light the lamp of hope within our hearts. Then take us by the hand into each day that lies ahead, for where

you lead we can confidently go with Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (pg. 182, ELW Pastoral Care)

Many Blessings,

Vicar Tyler Hoey

June Message from Vicky

Today I want to share with you a message that I had heard from a speaker named Paul Martinelli. He speaks to groups

around the world. He has a video on YOUTUBE called Your Turning Point. And because we are all computer savvy

now, I invite you to look it up. I really found it a great message about how turning points mold our lives. Does anyone

else feel like their lives have been turned upside down? It’s amazing to me how an event like COVID-19 can affect all of

the human race at one time. Very powerful indeed. Some of us scrambled to adjust to what the normal brought upon us

would be like. Little did we know what it WOULD look like or maybe most importantly how LONG we would be forced

to live it. Do we know what our future is moving forward? He referenced that there are good things and troubling things

that most likely create Turning Points in each of our lives. We will have several. Some we plan for and some we can’t.

In comes COVID-19. I consider this a Turning Point in my life and you probably do also. Now that I have brought this

to your attention, what are you going to do about it? I needed to make sense of WHY it even came about. I needed to

look into my life. You should know that I am one that believes everything happens for a reason. I don’t know why, but

that is my belief.

Before COVID-19 ….I was productive, I would think about life with my spouse, I would say my family means the world

to me, I thought well of friends, BUT time was getting away from me and soon all the things I just mentioned suffered.

At first, this Turning Point / COVID-19 had taken over my life, my soul, my faith. I retreated, very privately, I might add

as I was able to put on a brave face. And then I heard Mr. Martinelli’s message. I needed a new Turning Point in my life

even if COVID-19 was not quite through invading mine. So, I prayed harder than I have ever prayed, reached out to

people I had never met, found strength when I thought I had no more, and thanked God for the beautiful life He has given

me. These all came from using my mind, for God gave me that mind, and the wisdom to seek council.

HOW POWERFUL IS THE MIND. I needed a NEW Turning Point and in Mr. Martinell’s video, he will tell you that

you have the ability to bring purpose and fulfillment and be the cause in your life. Life isn’t certain. We need to take

charge of how we want our life to be. Create Turning Points. Be our own cause. Now these are my thoughts and only

mine. They are helping me navigate through life. What is your life like?

Vicky
