from our continuing waiting list. It’s important to under- stand that a Bigs’ role is to be a friend. Contrary to popular belief, Littles have caring teachers and guardian fig- ures in their lives. A Big adds the simple but powerful ele- ment of someone who freely chooses to be a part of a child’s life; someone who likes and respects them while believing in their potential. It is said, “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they just have the heart”. We currently offer four different programs that you can be a part of, which are four differ- ent opportunities that can fit into your life and schedule. Please don’t hesitate to con- tact our office if you have any questions, know someone who wants to be a Big or to start the process of becoming a Big yourself! Sincerely, Mallory D. Johnson Case Manager 270-821-0688 Dear Friends, Happy Summer to all of you! In January’s newsletter I was introduced as the Bowl for Kids’ Sake Event Planner. As of March 1st, I took the posi- tion as a full time Case Man- ager while continuing on with Bowl for Kids’ Sake, so you can imagine that the last few months have been very busy here in our office. We can’t say “Thank You” enough for everyone’s sup- port and participation in making this year’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake event a success. Everyone from Board Mem- bers; to volunteers; to work- ers; to team captains and to bowlers worked very hard fundraising and it really showed. I truly believe in our program and how beneficial it proves to be for our chil- dren. Big Brothers Big Sis- ters is about one-to-one friendships, but it is made up of a community full of caring and giving people; hundreds and thousands strong; changing what it means to grow up in America. The amount of support we receive from our local Community is amazing. It truly “takes a village” and without everyone pulling together we wouldn’t be able to continue year after year. With all of that being said, we always want to be doing more. We want to match more children; train more children on child safety; feed more children in our After- school Programs and be a reason that more children have a sense of their future. With more children, comes more volunteers; the ones we refer to as our Bigs. Having two full time Case Managers on staff, we’re looking for at least 20 new Bigs that will remove 20 more children A Message from Our New Case Manager, Mallory Johnson BOARD MEMBERS 2 ACTIVITIES 3 ACTIVITIES 4 BFKS 2015 5 TOP FUNDRAISERS 6 Inside this issue: July 2015 News from Big Brothers Big Sisters Serving Hopkins & Muhlenberg Counties Contact Us: Sandra Aiken Executive Director [email protected] Mallory Johnson Case Manager [email protected] Reba Burris Case Manager [email protected]
