First Year of ANPhA (=AAPPS-DNP) awards for young Scientists

• In 2017, we started the ANPhA (=AAPPS-DNP) awards for young Scientists, with financial support from AAPPS, which served as the first source of the award money.

• So far, ANPhA has co-hosted international conferences and schools held in the Asia-Pacific region (which have been designated as ANPhA conferences and/or ANPhA schools) several times a year.

• In the process of creating the award, we asked ANPhA conference / school organizers to create a system to select awardees.

• In 2017, we had three events where the ANPhA (=AAPPS-DNP) awards were given to young scientists.

Support to create new Nuclear Physics groups in Philippines

• In February 2018, two board members of ANPhA visited University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), Quezon City.

• The first contact was made from UPD at the occasion of IMFP2017, where AAPPS council meeting was also held.

• ANPhA will support UPD to establish NP group soon. The starting group will be “theory group”.

• Philippines Nuclear Research Institute near UPD operates TRIGA reactor and indoor/outdoor irradiation facilities based on 60Co and e-Linac.
