Thank You
We would like to start the newsletter by thanking all of the
parents who help around the school in a multitude of ways. Over the
past fortnight the level of parent help has been outstanding. This
has included: reading in the classroom, PMP, canteen, aerobics,
transporting students to sporting events, Bens Shed, P&F and
general maintenance work around the school. Thank you to each and
every one of you for all the time and effort that you put in. You
all help to make this a better school and above all you clearly say
to your children that their education matters.
Having said all of this we all know that for some parents it
doesnt matter how interested you are, you just dont have the time
due to work commitments, to help out. Thats ok too, because you
support the school and your child in other ways such as asking them
about what they are doing and listening to their response,
listening to their reading or reading the newsletter so that you
can connect with the school, reflect with you child and engage in
their learning.

Aerobics Well Done to all of our aerobics teams who did such a
great job representing LPPS on Saturday. The team work displayed by
all teams was fantastic to see. The support offered by parents,
grandparents, aunties, uncles and friends is outstanding. A total
of 72 children represented our school in 11 teams. All of our teams
will now be competing at the State Championships in June. Events
like this dont just happen. They require not just someone to drive
them, but people to support. Well done to Miss Nyman, Mrs Kemp and
Miss Mackie.

What a great week we have had! It was fantastic to walk around
and see the buzz of excitement students were displaying about their
learning. This week has been a time of sharing, celebrating and
marvelling at the happy nature of our students and witnessing the
results of their hard work and persistence at school. Thank you to
everyone who has attended an event (or perhaps a few) this week as
we have opened up our school for a wide range of visitors; family
members and special friends from far and wide.
We showcased many of the great programs available at LPPS with a
great emphasis on The Arts.
Were sure that you will agree that our greatest asset is our
children and the way they take pride in our school and the manner
in which they enthusiastically go about their daily work and
challenges.
We wish to make a special mention to the Community Partnerships
team for their hard work behinds the scenes to make sure everything
worked like clockwork, coordinated most efficiently by Mrs Bishop.
Well done!

When your child is in Year 6 of primary school, an important
decision must be made about which school your child will attend for
Year 7 next year. Now is the time to indicate on the Application
for Year 7 Placement form, which secondary school you would like
you child to attend in 2016.
Applications for Year 7 Placement forms must be returned to
school by tomorrow, Friday, 22nd May, 2015.
If, at any stage, any details on the Application for Year 7
Placement form change, you are advised to notify your primary
school immediately.
Although Year 7 enrolments will be determined by secondary
schools, all communication regarding the Year 6 to Year 7
transition process must be in written form and lodged through your
primary school until the Year 7 placement is confirmed.
This is a very important document that must be sent back even if
your child is going to a non-government school.

Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge 2015 Thank you to everyone
who has returned their permission slip for the reading
challenge.
Our school automatically enrols all students into the challenge
and once the permission slips are returned the details are
altered/confirmed. Hence if your returned slip indicated that you
did not wish for your child to participate then they are deleted
from the school registration site. Also, only if you have ticked
the box regarding the consent to publish your childs name will we
register this as so. If no boxes were ticked then we will not
register your childs name to be published. All students
participating will however receive a certificate at the
completion
of the challenge.
I encourage parents to visit the website
(www.education.vic.gov.au/pc) for any further information. It is
here that you can also view/download the book lists if your child
wishes to do more reading as we are recording the books that are
read in class.
Please take the opportunity during the miserable wet days to
snuggle down with your child and a book and enjoy the story you
will share together.
Happy Reading,
Sonia.
