Hello D23’s MAGICAL members! I have said several times that communication is KEY in Key Club!

Well, it is! I have sent out emails begging for club quotes, pictures, news, etc. No longer do you

need to dread those emails. As long as your secretary sends in the MRF with a club snap shot at-

tached, your school’s Key Club will fill up some white space (empty space). Is there a catch, you

ask. No there is no catch what so ever! However, if you have a dazzling club picture that some or

all of the members DOING SOMETHING ACTIVE (picking up garbage, reading to children, etc)

send the picture to Alli Lampshire at [email protected] by the 17th of each month, unless other

wise noted.

On a different note, I will be presenting at the RTC (Regional Training Conference) on October 23,

2011 at UNR from 12-4. I will be presenting the Editor’s Workshop! I can answer any questions and

maybe teach the editors a thing or two. I can’t wait to meet all of D23’s terrific Tech Editor’s!

The DCM was followed by the JDRF Walk for a Cure. A huge thanks

goes out to Lowry, Wooster, Reed, North Valleys and Reno High

Key Clubs for participating in this walk. At the DCM, Key Club busi-

ness was discussed. RTC is right around the corner as is Fall Rally.

Have any questions about it? Ask one of your officers or Alys-

sa. Keep working hard on raising funds for PTP and staying active in

service. Also, don't forget to celebrate Key Club week and bring a

friend to your club's meeting! Want more info? Visit cnh-

Hello D23!

I hope that you are all as excited as I am for both Region 6 Training Conference and Fall Rally! Re-

gion Training Conference is this coming Sunday, October 23, from 12:00-4:00pm. Registration will

begin at 11:30 in room 403 of the Joe Crowley Student Union at UNR. I hope to see you all there. RTC

is your chance to learn all about Key Club, Fall Rally, and meet tons of new friends. Although it is very

educational, this event will be a lot of fun.

I am proud to announce that we have more than 150 people going to Fall Rally from our Region. On

the day of the event, you will begin to arrive at Earl Wooster High School in the East Parking Lot at

5:30am. There, you will be given your AWESOME D23 T-shirts as well as your Thunderstix. At 5:59 our

buses will head for Valejo, CA. Fall Rally will be filled with fun, fellowship, and roller coasters! We are

expected to arrive back at Wooster between 12:00-1:00am.

I hope that all of you are able to attend at least one of these wonderful upcoming events. As we

bring in the month of November, let’s start off with a bang. Service is very important. Although Key

Club is all about having fun, please do not lose sight of our wonderful upcoming service opportuni-

ties. Please talk to your club officers for service projects available.

Happy Key Clubbing!

Keeping Truckee Meadows Beautiful

Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful was a very "classic" service project. It allowed members to go out-

doors and directly help the community by cleaning it up. Working with KTMB was a blast because

the people were really nice and seeing so many people serving their community was great. After

three and a half hours of digging into the river, exploring bushes, and picking up countless bags

worth of trash, KTMB held a "thank you" barbecue for the volunteers. Key Club members from Reed,

Reno, and Wooster met at Fisherman's Park to begin cleaning up the Truckee River. Key Clubbers

from Hug were at another site. Following this service, we attended the barbecue and were able to

bond with UNR's Circle K that also helped with KTMB.

Wooster High School The Wooster High Key Club has spent most of September orienting new Key Club members and preparing for Fall Rally.

Several small fundraisers were held throughout the month. So far, membership in our Key Club has spiked and new mem-

bers continue to join. Service projects during the month of September have been focused on Pediatric Trauma Program.

Lowry High School Lowry Key Club sponsored Club week to recruit new members. At our first meeting we had 40 students show up. 40 stu-

dents may not sound like a lot especially when compared to other clubs, but that is FANTASTIC for Lowry! We hosted a

Taco night to fundraise for Fall Rally North; we fundraised about $135.00. At the South Tahoe-Lowry Football game, we

had a 50/ 50 Raffle, raising about $330. Needing more money to Fall Rally North, we have started fundraising for Enchila-

da Feed on October 23. During meetings we have competitions– who has the pledge memorized, who knows what FRN,

PTP, CTC, DCON, ICON stands for.

Galena High School Galena's Key Club participated in the Race of the Cure for Breast Cancer Awareness Month .

Reno High School At Reno High School, September was a month filled with craziness! We had a club fair where we had over 150 people

sign up to be a part of Key Club. We had an amazing turn out at our first meeting with 112 members present, however

our numbers have gone down since then. There is a great deal of involvement within our club. In order to keep mem-

bers interested in going to our meetings we hold Opportunity Drawings for iTunes gift cards at each meeting. Although

Reed High School Reed High Key Club has gotten off to a great start for the 2011-12 school year. We have had a large influx of members

wanting to join Key Club and are excited for Key Club events to come. Reed High School recently had a club drive and

we had 60 students sign up to be a part of Key Club. Now that we have their attention we are working on hooking them

into service while focusing on Membership Dues and Fall Rally dues. We are aiming for the Early Bird Status on our mem-

bership dues.
