Advocate BroMenn Medical Center’s campus
modernization project is nearing completion.
This two-year, three-story, $53.35 million
building project began in May 2010 with a
groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate
the official start of construction. Completion
of the 79,000 finished square foot addition
that will replace our Obstetrics, Intensive Care
and Step-down units is expected in June 2012.
Planning for the facility began over seven years
ago and included input from our patients and
the community, physicians, nursing staff, our
leadership team and health care consultants.

The design of this facility will take us well into
the future and help us modernize units of the
hospital that currently reside in areas built
well over 40 years ago. For the Obstetrics unit,
the overall environment has been specially
designed for the experience of birth and the
care of newborns during their first days, and
will assure the privacy and safety of new moms
and their families.

In both our obstetrics and intensive care
patient rooms, you will note a light wood
flooring in the center of the room surrounded
by a dark wood trim. This lighter wood area
helps define the “patient zone” of the room.

This new technology allows the patient care
provider to position the equipment arm and
customize its location to the needs of the
patient. This also means that patients are
able to face the window looking outside if they
prefer and are able.
