「TOYOTA and SUBARU have been developing a sports car together!」After a while this news was spread around the tuning industry andfans, finally "86" from TOYOTA and "BRZ" from SUBARU were unveiled at Tokyo Motor Show last year. In April, 2012, these cars made their debut. HKS has already obtained 2 machines for development. One of 86 hasparticipated in the D1 GRAND PRIX Series, and we can feedback the technology obtainedthrough this competition for our new product development. HKS will release remarkable and highperformance products for TOYOTA 86.The latest issue of NEWS COMMUNIQUE introduces HKS LEGAMAX Premium & Hi-PowerMuffler SPEC-L for 86 and HIPERMAX MAXⅣGT.More applications for Hi-Power Muffler SPEC-L and HIPERMAX MAXⅣ GT will beavailable from this summer. HKS released these muffler and damper for 86 ahead of otherapplications. HKS will make this long-awaited Japanese sports car to be a high-levelperformance car. New Generation Sport Muffler Built Around "Light Weight" ConceptCarbon Wrapped Tail Tip To Emphasise Light & Sporty DesignDesigned and developed with the concept theme of "light weight", pipes, silencers and other parts have all been

individually lightened to produce a muffler which is half the weight of the stock muffler.

"Bullet" style silencers have been used for aggressive appearance with carbon wrapping around the tail tip to

express the lightweight concept of this muffler.

Light weight and low back pressure specification improves vehicle agility and is ideal for those who are

looking for something that can cope with further tuning when aiming for the next step.

HKS has newly developed this Surge Tank Kit with separate plenum tank and intake manifold.

Using flow test data, this kit was designed to equalise intake air volume to each cylinder allowing for a more stable engine output while

accepting its presence in the engine bay.

In consideration for the fuelling requirements for higher power cars, Twin Injector Pro Kit was also designed including fuel rail and other

components for the installation of additional injectors.

・To meet the demands of GT1000 Spec, the port diameterwas enlarged and port shape and cylinder air distributionwas optimised.

・Plenum tank capacity was optimised for improved engineresponse. Rather than simply having a large volume for highpeak power, considerations were made to increase flowwhilst maintaining response and feel.

・Funnel design in the tank end of the ports optimises air flowfrom the sides of the plenum tank increasing flow volume.

2012 GRAN TURISMO D1 GRAND PRIX TOKYO DRIFT in ODAIBAHKS resumes its participation to D1 GRAND PRIX after 7 years absence from 2005. There are many differences such as the regulations, race itself,etc. Therefore, severe conditions were expected before the actual race. We planned to take part in the competition with our new machine 86;however due to development conditions of 86, Altezza, which was perfect for the D1, made its entry in the competition instead.

Qualifying round on April 13 was held under dry road condition. Only 8 cars can get through the qualifying round. HKS Altezza made it to the thirdplace and advanced to the final. The final round was held on next day. The road condition was heavily wet that the road surface was completely covered by water. There were 24 carsran the final sole competition round. HKS Altezza was in the 10th place with 0.7 point difference from the top, and went to the tandem competition. The1st round was the match against the E92 BMW's driver Ueno. Our driver Taniguchi ran after the driver Ueno and won the 1st run by one point. But, thedriver Ueno won the 2nd round by one point. The match remained undecided and went into suddendeath. Regrettably, the driver Ueno won the sudden death. Team HKS finished the first round in 13thplace.

Next round will be held on May 26 - 27 at Suzuka. We will utilize many things experienced from the1st round to new machine 86 and show better result next time.
