Paragon Sports Consulting was created with a vision of redefining the industry

standard of player advising. The company prides itself on building long-lasting

relationships that transcend the sport. Our players receive expert advice on player

development, placement, and career planning. By managing every aspect of the

career development process, we allow our players to focus on what matters most,

playing the game they love.

Every career is unique. So, a client-specific approach is necessary to determine

what needs to be taken into consideration when providing career advice.

Paragon Sports Consulting approaches each client’s career with this in mind.

Our initial goal is to help the player understand where he is in his development

and what resources are available to help further his development and achieve

his goals.

I take pride in Paragon Sports Consulting being a boutique and feeling like one but

operating like the biggest names in the sports agency community. My experience

in hockey operations differentiates me from other agents and advisors. I have

coached, recruited, and scouted at the highest levels of amateur hockey, including

the USHL and college. Over the course of the last 10 years, I have identified,

recruited, and guided 19 NHL prospects and more than 100 NCAA Division I players.

There are many decisions players have to make in their careers and choosing a

family advisor is one of the most important. My promise to you is that I will manage

your career with integrity and always act in your best interest. .

Founded by Colby Drost in early 2019, Paragon

Sports Consulting has quickly become an

industry leader. PSC has placed players in the

NCAA (DI/DIII) USHL, NAHL, BCHL, AJHL,

CCHL, NCDC, and in elite prep school and

midget hockey programs. Colby prides himself

on his work ethic, ability to connect with the

players, and creating strategic plans to help

clients achieve their goals.

Colby has more than 24 years of experience in

hockey. He was a goaltender for 17 years before

entering the hockey business at the age of 18.

Over the last 10 years, he has held various roles

in coaching, scouting, and hockey operations.

Colby’s experience spans midget, prep, junior,

and college hockey. He has built an extensive

network of contacts throughout North America

at every level.

From 2015-2019, Colby was the Director of

Scouting for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of

the United States Hockey League. He worked

closely with the team’s General Manager and

helped the Fighting Saints to a record of

144-99-20-10. During his tenure, the Fighting

Saints produced 19 NHL draft picks and

more than 80 NCAA DI commitments. Colby

was instrumental in building the 2019-2020

team that finished 33-13-2-0 and identified

Dubuque’s star Riese Gaber, the USHL’s

2019-2020 Player of the Year and Forward

of the Year.

From 2013-2017, Colby worked with the Skipjacks Hockey Program’s

midget and junior teams. Colby recruited 21 players who committed

to NCAA DI programs, 17 USHL draft picks, and 19 NAHL placements.

Notable players include Patrick Giles (NTDP/Boston College), Kenneth

Hausinger (UMASS-Lowell, NCAA Champion), Cameron Hausinger

(Saskatoon Blades), Joe Baez (Lone Star, All-NAHL First Team/

Army), Jackson Sterrett (UMASS-Lowell), Nolan Barrett (Merrimack

College), Christian Felton (Bentley University) , Lucas Bahn (Alabama-

Huntsville), Christian Hausinger (Wisconsin – River Falls – DIII, First

Team All-American).

In 2015-2016, Colby was the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator

at Skidmore College. In one season, he recruited 13 student-athletes

who helped the program reach national ranking in 2016-17 for only the

second time in school history.

Colby played four years of college hockey. A graduate of the

University of New England, Colby started his college career at Niagara

University before transferring. During his senior season, he was an All-

Conference selection and helped the University of New England to

its highest finish in program history. Colby graduated cum laude with

a B.A. in History and later received his Master of Legal Studies from

Northeastern University.

Paragon understands the importance of academics. One of the

first things we do in the recruiting process is ask players for

their grades and SAT/ACT scores. We understand each player’s

academic potential is different, but we want to gage realistic

potential prep school and college opportunities that could

arise. We evaluate opportunities based on a player’s academic

background and make recommendations based on those

numbers and the player’s goals.

Our background allows us to evaluate transcripts and SAT/ACT scores

to help families understand the college recruiting process. We also

provide assistance with the NCAA Clearinghouse to make sure our

players are eligible to play NCAA Division I hockey.

development studies to help our clients and their families understand the career process. We look at all

aspects of a player’s career to provide specific guidance on academics, exposure, and development. We

ensure our clients are well-informed, so they can make the best decision for their career.

Development is the foundation of a client’s success. We evaluate each player to help them understand

their development needs. Paragon Sports Consulting has relationships with professionals involved in every

aspect of player development. We have access to world-class instructors to meet any on-ice or off-ice

development need. As the game evolves, I’ll ensure that our players have access to every resource available

to give them an edge in their development.

Paragon Sports Consulting creates a career plan for each individual player. We take the time to understand

Do not accept gifts of any kind from an advisor,

including money, meals, travel expenses, equipment, etc.

Do not enter into an agreement – either signed or

verbally – to have an advisor represent the player as

an agent in the future.

Do not ask the advisor to market your son’s abilities to

professional teams.

Do plan to compensate the advisor for their services;

failure to do so may be considered the player receiving

a gift from the advisor, which would be an NCAA violation.
