Club Officers 2016-2017• President: Robert Groat
The Club President is the Chief Executive Officer of a Lions Club. Presides at all meetings of the Club. Appoints any Committees of this Club. A member of the District Governor's Advisory Committee of the Zone
• Immediate Past President: Bob Ascoli• Vice President: 1st VP David Hubbard
If the President is unable to perform the duties of office for any reason, the Vice-President next in rank shall perform the required duties with the same authority as the President. Each VP shall, under the direction of the President, oversee the functioning of such Club committees as the President shall designate.

Club Officers cont.• Secretary: Brian Cummins
The Secretary works under the direction of the President and acts as the liaison officer between the Club and the District and the Association. Submits regular monthly and other reports to the International Office and the District Governor. A member of the District Governor's Advisory Committee of the Zone. Has custody and maintains general records of the Club.
• Treasurer: Kevin Rowlands The Treasurer is the accounting officer of the Club and ensures
that its financial affairs are organised, recorded, and reported. Receives and banks all monies, issues payment of Club obligations, ensure that the Club’s financial transactions are correctly recorded into administration and activities accounts.

Club Officers cont.• Lion Tamer: John Dening
Responsible for club property (such as flags, banners, gavels, etc.). The Lion Tamer also keeps order and distributes materials at meetings.
• Tail Twister: Peter Snodgrass Serves to promote harmony, good fellowship and enthusiasm at
club meetings through the judicious imposition of “fines” on members.
• Membership Chairperson: Doug Mackinnon Development of a growth program for the Club. Provide regular
encouragement at Club meetings for recruitment of members ensuring proper recruitment procedures.

Elections• Officers are elected annually• Club president appoints a nomination committee• The nomination committee selects candidates• The club votes in March and election results reported to
District by 30th March• The term begins July 1st

Service and Fundraising Activities• Service Activities
Cottage at Austinmer was commissioned in the 1960s for the purpose of providing short term emergency accommodation for families in need and to provide a holiday opportunity for families in need
• Fundraising Activities Weekly raffle at Ryan’s Hotel – roster of club members Annual Seaside and Arts Festival – a project of the Lions Club
organised by a Committee comprising Lions Club and local community members

Community Support
• Every year the club makes donations to: Lions Projects – local and national Local, State and Nationwide charities Local individuals and families in need
• The proceeds of the Seaside and Arts Festival are
donated to major local projects/community service organisations and/or to local families or individuals in need of significant assistance

Meetings and Functions• When: Alternate Tuesdays at 6.30pm• Where: Ryan’s Hotel Thirroul• The first meeting each month is a business meeting• The second meeting each month is a Guest Speaker
meeting• Donation reviews are conducted 6 monthly in December
and June and at other times as necessary• The Changeover Dinner is held in July• A Xmas function is held in Nov/Dec• The District Governor or a Vice District Governor makes
an annual club visit

Australian Lions Foundation (ALF) • Formed in1981• The Australian Lions Foundation was formed by Lions
with the sole purpose of assisting people in time of need.• Provides financial assistance and support in cases of
national disaster, emergency and community welfare projects and encouraging international understanding and cooperation by relief projects in developing countries.
• ALF also makes grants on a $ for $ basis up to $15,000 to a club to assist in funding community based welfare projects.

Name and Logo• The official name of the association is “The International
Association of Lions Clubs” or simply “Lions Clubs International.”
• The name Lions was chosen on a secret ballot over several others because the lion stood for strength, courage, fidelity and vital action.
• The Lions logo consists of a gold “L” on a blue field surrounded by a gold circle. On either side of the circle is the profile of a Lion’s head, one looking back upon a proud past and the other looking optimistically toward the future.

Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF)• Aims: Restoring sight, disaster relief,
supporting youth and humanitarian needs• Formed in 1968 US$826M total spend• LCIF grants an average of US$30M annually. It provides
clubs with the means to build schools, health clinics, vocational rehabilitation, training centers and other projects.
• LCIF SightFirst Targets the leading causes of preventable blindness which affects millions of people worldwide. Since1990, Lions have raised over US$415 million for SightFirst, LCIF the world's largest blindness prevention organization.
