New Media Technologies

What did I use?• I used a variety of new media formats whilst

creating my final product. I used online media formats, including Slideshare and Wix, a wide range of Programmes such as Itunes and Imovie and I used media technology such as my camera and tripod. I used programs such as PowerPoint and Microsoft Word as well to help me with my coursework. These all played an important role in my coursework as without them I would not have been able to create my music video to the best of my ability. I also would have found it extremely hard to store my research and planning in a safe environment and filming my music video to a good standard would have almost been impossible. The editing of my music video would have been tacky and unprofessional had I not used Imovie and Itunes.

Photoshop• I used Photoshop in order to edit my photos

which I eventually used for my digipak, my advert and my disc. I was at an advantage in using Photoshop as I had previous experience from years 11 and 12 in using the program. It was extremely important for me to have access to Photoshop as I had no other way of editing my photographs. If I hadn’t had access to this program my photographs would have been un-edited and therefore would have looked unprofessional. The role Photoshop played in my coursework was vital as it allowed my to edit and change my photographs in order for me to make them look more professional and fit for a digipak.

Wix.com• I used www.wix.com in order to create my

website. On this website I have posted my research, planning and my final products. Wix is an online tool which allows anybody to create their own website. It is easy to use and extremely efficient in displaying and creating work in a stylish format. I used wix in order to create my own website where I stored my research and planning. I was able to present these in a stylish way which was personal to me and I made everything look like it was part of the pop-punk genre. Wix was extremely important to me as it allowed me to express myself and my work in a creative way, rather than just writing everything down on a blog. Without wix I wouldn’t have been able to show my work in such a stylish way and this would have hindered my coursework severely.

Imovie• Imovie is a program which allows you to create and edit your own films from your

video camera or normal camera. I used Imovie after filming the narrative and band performance for my music video. Imovie was used in order to edit both filming sessions. It was extremely easy to use Imovie as it made editing simple for me. Imove was important to me as it was the only program which was available to me at the time. Without Imovie, I would not have been able to edit my work and therefore my coursework would have been incomplete. The use of Imovie helped me greatly as it is extremely easy to use yet very effective in creating a video. Imovie allowed my to cut my music video, it’s layout made it easy for me to see what I did and did not want to use for my final piece of coursework. I was able to mute the recording so I could play the original song over my filming in order to get the lip syncing correct. Without Imovie, I would have struggled greatly to complete my coursework as it made it much easier for me to edit.

Camera and tripod

I used the camera and tripod to film my music video, both the band performance and the narrative. Using a tripod made filming much easier as I didn’t need to worry about having a steady hand. It also made it much easier to do pan shots and zooming in and out. The tripod was effective as it allowed my to use the steady shot continuously throughout my filming. I did not need to worry about keeping the camera steady as the tripod did this for me. Using my own camera made working on my coursework much easier as I already knew how to use my camera and didn’t need to worry about handing it in for other people to use. I was also able to go out and film whenever I wanted to as I always had access to my camera.
