NEW
ITALIAN
CINEMA
November 8-12, 2017
Presented by the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco and New Italian Cinema Events of Flor-ence, Italy, New Italian Cinema is an annual showcase of contemporary Italian movies. The five-day festival is dedicated to bringing Italy’s newest directors to Bay Area audiences and cele-brating the country’s rich cinematic tradition.
A UNIQUE AUDIENCE New Italian Cinema attracts a diversified and en-gaged combination of people that has been fol-lowing us over time, as well as a consistently in-creasing number of new supporters drawn by our public relations efforts. The demographic of our audience has shifted from mostly Italians living abroad to a growing number of movie fans, and especially of lovers of the Italian lifestyle.
FIVE DAYS OF IDEAS, ENGAGEMENT & ENTERTAINMENT This year New Italian Cinema will be held at the Vogue Theater, November 5-10, 2017.
IN COMPETITION Each year, seven features by up-and-coming directors are screened at the fes-tival and compete for the City of Florence Award. Honoring their first or second feature, the Award is decided by audience ballot in San Francisco and announced at the Closing Night presentation.
DOCUMENTARIES have become a favorite of the Bay Area’s younger generations, and our festival pays an attentive homage to the phe-nomenon with works that bring together Italy’s sensibility for social issues and the visually aes-thetic tradition of design and fashion.
SPECIAL EVENTS Next to the feature films in competition, New Italian Cinema is also pre-senting a few of the most interesting films from Italy’s recent production. Renowned directors (think of Paolo Sorrentino and Paolo Virzì) and popular actors and actresses are invited to attend special event screenings and exclusive receptions.
WHY SUPPORT? Excellent Exposure for Your Organization Cinema has long been a vehicle for the promo-tion of Italy in the world: every set, every loca-tion becomes an opportunity to admire Italian fashion, furniture, food, wines — in a word, to breathe in the Italian style. This five-day experi-ence provides excellent exposure, with access to an international and receptive audience. One can think of New Italian Cinema as a unique opportunity for name recognition, or brand awareness and communication for companies engaged in one of the most receptive markets today.
Your support to NEW ITALIAN CINEMA in-creases your profile within the Greater Bay Area community by connecting you with all those interested in a better lifestyle, allowing you to position your company as leader in business-for-culture practices to a receptive audience.
