Working principle of a mechanical power variator

Main principle:

Point A fixing of the shaft

(a detail 2) in the necessary

time in a proper place with

moving possibility of

other points. Points O and M

are a spinning ax of the

input (a detail 3) and the output

(a detail 2) shafts accordingly.

Transmissions’ characteristics

Works with the greatest efficiency only in separate points.

The characteristic of transmission with frictional variators Works effectively over the range speeds from Vmin to Vmax. Relation Vmax / Vmin = 3–6.

EFFICIENCY more low, than in a mechanical step transmission.

The characteristic of transmission with МPV Works effectively in a wide speed range. Vmax / Vmin is more than 1000.

Works effectively in a repent regime.

EFFICIENCY is commensurable with EFFICIENCY of a manual transmission.

Possibility of installation with engines of various power, including more

than 500 kW.

Effective work in a wide control range of speeds, Vmax / Vmin is more

1000.

Transferred twisting moment up to 100 кN*м.

High efficiency (92–95 %).

Possibility to work without the clutch.

Possibility of stable and long work on small target turns and the

maximum loadings (a repent regime).

Weight and size characteristics are in 1,5–2 times less than at comparable

multistage gear reductors.

High durability of work due to the minimum contact loadings (σk

≤ 15 kg/m2) on transferring elements of MPV.
