BehaviorExpectationsandPoliciesOurrehearsalprocessmovesataveryquickpace,andwewanteveryonetobeinspiredandempoweredbytheexperience.Thismeansweneedourperformers
andfamiliestoadheretothefollowingexpectations:
• Theuseofalcohol,drugs,orsmokingisnotpermittedbyTMTOperformers.WeaponsarenotallowedonTMTOpremises.
• Berespectfulofyourcreativeteam,parentvolunteers,andfellowcastmembers.BullyingordisrespectfulbehaviortowardanyCompanymemberwillnotbetolerated.
• Beawareofyourlanguageandconversationtopics,especiallyaroundouryoungermembers.
• Bemindfulofother’spersonalspace,aswellasourrehearsalspace.Pleasecleanupafteryourself.
• Remainattherehearsalhall/Craterianforthedurationofyourrehearsaltime,unlessotherwisespecifiedbytheCreativeTeam.Bringsnacks/waterwithyou,asyouwillnotbeabletoleavetogetfood.
• Whilerehearsing,pleasestayfocusedandkeeptalkingtoaminimum–wewantyoutohavefunwithyourfriends,butwealsoneedtomakegoodprogresseveryday!Cellphonesmustbeoffandputawayduringrehearsal.
FamilyVolunteerOpportunitiesInordertomakeourproductionshappen,weneedyourhelp!Therearea
varietyofwaysyoucanlendahandduringourproductionprocess,andtheseopportunitieswillintroduceyoutootherTMTOfamilies,directlyimpactthesuccessofourshows,andmakeTMTOamemorableexperienceforall.Someopportunitiesarehelpfultohavepriorrelatedexperience,butotherswewillhappilyteachyou.Foreachhouryourfamilyvolunteers,youwillreceive$10
backfromtheParticipationFee,upto$100perfamily.Someopportunitieswemayemailyouaboutare:
• BackstageSupervisionduringtechweekandperformances• Costumeconstruction,alteration,etc.duringrehearsalprocess• HairandMakeupduringtechweekandperformances• Propsconstructionduringrehearsalprocess• Sceneryconstruction,painting,decorating,etc.duringrehearsalprocess• Microphone-wranglingduringtechweekandperformances• Scenerytransportationintoandoutofthetheater
Auditions,Callbacks,andRehearsals• Auditionsareopentofamilymembers;ifyou’dliketowatchtheprocess,pleasejoin
usinthebackoftheauditorium/auditionspace.
• Callbacksandrehearsalsareclosedtofamilymembers;wewantourperformerstofocussolelyontheirwork,andwefinditeasierforthemtodotheirbestinaclosedenvironment.Weappreciateyourunderstanding.
• Wedotakerehearsalconflictsintoaccountwhenmakingcastingdecisions,soplease
indicateyourconflictsasaccuratelyaspossible.Weunderstandthatlast-minuteconflictscanarise,butweaskthatyoudoyourbesttokeepthesefromhappening,andthatifadditionalconflictscomeup,youprovideatimelyexplanation(additionalconflictswillbeapprovedattheDirector’sdiscretion).PleasealertusofanychangestoyourconflictsASAP;itisimportantthatweaccuratelytrackwhoisatrehearsal.
• Ifyouarecastintheensemble,youwillnotbeneededforeveryrehearsallistedon
therehearsalcalendar.Ifyouarecastinaprincipalrole,youwillbeneededformost,ifnotall,rehearsals.Occasionally,wemayneedtoaddextrarehearsalsnotoriginallylistedonthecalendar,butwewillalwaysaskyoufirst.
• Ifyouarecastintheensemble,wewilldoourbesttofeatureyouasmuchaspossible,
accordingtoyourstrengthsasaperformer,theneedsofthescript,andotherfactors.Wewantyoutofeelproudofyourroleintheshow,andwebelievethatnomatterhowyouarecast,youwillhavearewardingexperienceifyouapproachtheshowwithapositiveattitudeanddedicationtodoingyourbest!
• Allimportantinformation,schedules,andvolunteeropportunitieswillbedistributed
viaemail.Pleasecheckyouremailfrequently,asourrehearsalschedulescanchangeatanytime.Wewillalwaysdoourbesttogiveyouasmuchadvancednoticeaspossible–butitisvitalthatyoureadandabsorbeverythingweemailyou.Wewillneverreachouttoyouunnecessarily!
• Youwillbechargedasmallfeeforthescriptforeachproductionyouparticipatein.
Wewillgiveyoudirectionsonhowtoacquireyourscriptpriortothefirstrehearsal.
• Pleasebringyourscriptandapenciltoeveryrehearsal.Also,thesooneryoumemorizeyourlines,lyrics,andchoreography,thebetter!
• Pleasewearclothesyoucanmove/danceintoeveryrehearsal,evenifitissimplyfor
blockingormusic.Youneverknowwhenwe’llneedyoutomovearound!Pleasewearclose-toedshoestoeveryrehearsalaswell(noflip-flops,sandals,etc).Girls,ifyouchoosetowearaskirt/dress,pleasewearshortsorleggingsunderneath.Nobaremidriffsorrevealingclothing.
• Pleasenote:youmayberequiredtobuyyourownshoes/tights/show-specific
underclothesfortheshow.You’llbenotifiedbyourCostumeDesignerifthatisthecase.AllcastmemberswillberequiredtoprovidetheirownshowmakeupperinstructionsfromourMakeupDesigner.
TechWeekandPerformances
• Techrehearsalsinvolveaddingthelighting,sound,costumes,set,andpropsintoourproduction.Theserehearsalshappentheweekleadinguptoopeningnight.
• Techrehearsalscanbelong/grueling,somakesureyou’regettinggoodrest,eatingwell,andtakingcareofyourself.
• Techrehearsalsmayrunlongerthanstatedontheschedule;wethankyouinadvanceforyourflexibility.
• Allcostumepieceswillbecheckedinattheendofeachtechrehearsalandperformance.
• Onlydesignatedfamilyvolunteerswillbeallowedbackstageduringtechrehearsalsandperformances.Thisistoensurethesafetyofeveryoneinthebuilding.Thankyouforunderstanding!
PhotoShootandPlaybill
• Wewillhaveacastphotoshootintheweeksleadinguptoperformances.Thisistotakeindividualphotosofeachcastmembertoincludeinourperformanceplaybill.Youarewelcometowearwhatyou’dlike!
• Wewillalsotakeafull-companyphototobeprintedinthecenteroftheplaybillatthefirstfull-castrehearsal.
• Dependingontheshow,wemayasksenior/graduatingcastmemberstowritea60-wordbiotogoalongwiththeirphotosintheprogram.Othercastmembersmayhavetheirage,school,and/ornumberofpreviousTMTOshowslistedwiththeirphotos.
