Welcome to EEMUA

EEMUA has been representing users’ interests since 1950. Founded by some of the biggest names in industry, the Association was and still is regarded as an essential means of keeping abreast of a changing regulatory environment, and ensuring capital assets are operated efficiently and effectively in a world where technologies and economies are transforming.

EEMUA has been at the forefront of establishing good practice across a range of industries and technical disciplines; from tank storage to alarm management, from working in hazardous areas to ensuring the integrity of ageing plant, demonstrating its members’ involvement in tackling the issues of the day.

We are the voice of the user in front of regulators and legislators, and drive standards development to ensure that approaches are pragmatic and practical, representing the way our members run their assets.

We are continuously working with our members to tackle the issues of tomorrow – putting together the methodologies that will be used by the users of industrial assets for the next sixty years.

EEMUA is a non-profit membership organisation representing companies that are significant purchasers and users of engineering equipment and materials of construction.

We have a significant heritage, with an enviable reputation for its technical expertise in the international engineering community that stretches back more than 60 years.

EEMUA focusses its efforts on the most critical issues for owners and operators, helping them maintain the right balance of in-house engineering expertise, stay abreast of a broad and increasingly complex regulatory landscape and operate their capital assets efficiently, effectively and in compliance with relevant legislation, regulation and standard.

Council

The EEMUA Council, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, reviews and determines the strategic direction of the Association and the content of the work programme, and also deals with some other matters specifically set-out and reserved to it in the EEMUA Articles of Association.

Board of Directors

AtthecoreofEEMUAareitsemployees,andthecompany’sBoardofDirectors.Theeffectiveness of EEMUA derives from the employees, the Board of Directors and the Members all working effectively together.

Technical Committees

Technical Committees act as sub-committees of Council, concentrating on specific technological areas or disciplines. They are a means of sharing engineering experience and expertise, as well as promoting the interests of the wider membership in particular engineering specialties.

Forums

Forumsareconvenedonamoreinformalschedule and effectively address cross-discipline topics or are used for topics of special interest as and when they arise.

Working Groups

Working Groups give participants the opportunitytobenefitfromtheirorganisation’sEEMUA membership through the writing of industry leading guidance. It also provides a chance for technical specialists to network with their peer group as a route for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

The effectiveness of EEMUA depends on its employees, the Board of Directors and the Membership all working together underneath the ultimate authority of a council made up of Member Representatives.

The official EEMUA training, assessment and certification scheme for tank integrity assessors, engineers and managers.

This is a two and half day training-only course for engineers and others involved in the specification, design, commissioning, operation, maintenance, repair or refurbishment of underwater oil and gas production equipment and related facilities.

This internationally renowned competency scheme provides essential knowledge and practical skills for safe working in potentiallyexplosiveatmospheresarisingfromflammablegas,combustible dust or other hazards.

This is a one-day training course that provides simple and practical guidance to managers, designers, supervisors and operators.

EEMUA’stechnicalguidanceisdevelopedbyusersforusers.ThesecollaborativeeffortsallowEEMUA, through Working Groups, to develop industry leading guidance and other publications that promote good practice. Engineers around the world recognise the technical quality of our publications that span a wide variety of engineering topics.

EEMUA has developed more than 200 engineering guides, handbooks and other publications. Internationalstandardsbodies,suchastheISOandIEC,useanumberofEEMUA’spublicationsas the basis of formal standards, or adopt them in their entirety as new standards. EEMUA is continually developing guidance in new areas and providing revised editions of existing publications.

EEMUA Publications are available to purchase by the general public, but Member companies receive a complimentary copy of each new publication that is released as well as a 25% discount when they purchase additional copies.

FromtheCivilEngineeringForumdiscussingCDM Regulations to the Control and Instrumentation Committee and reviewing the latest edition of IEC 61511 or the latest tank inspection techniques being debated at an international seminar, there is a full calendar of events for members to take advantage of.

The EEMUA events enable members to discuss key issues and to interact with their peers across industries. Members receive a substantial discount all public facing activities. Outwardly facing, EEMUA holds joint workshops with the HSE, Energy Institute and IMechE, and has been involved with industry exhibitions such as HazardEx and StockExpo.

EEMUA holds annual and bespoke events across Europe. These seminars are designed to give engineers and managers an opportunity to discuss critical topics, thereby helping them to maintain technical competence within a one day programme at a convenient location. These have included topics related to storage tanks, pressure systems, materials of construction, and explosive atmospheres.

EEMUA’sflagshipbiennialevent‘Collaborate’ has come to occupy an unrivalled place within the EEMUA Calendar. The event facilitates a large gathering of Members to address the practical engineering issues that arise during the operational life of industrial assets.

EEMUA membership is for companies that own or operate industrial facilities. These facilities may include; process plants, power stations, offshore platforms, storage terminals, energy, utility transport, distribution systems and other engineering assets around the world.

Types of membership

Corporate Membership: Membership is open to those companies that own and/or operate industrial facilities or that are significant purchasers or users of engineering equipment and materials.

Associate Company Scheme: Engineering consultancy firms that provide professional services to companies eligible for Corporate Membership may be eligible to join the Associate Company Scheme. This excludes manufacturers of engineering equipment.

Collaboration Partner: Collaboration partners will be involved only on the particular projects concerned–notinanyotheraspectofEEMUA’sbusiness–andforthelifeoftheprojectonly.
