Senator’s Message (The First Lady Mechanical Engineer Of
Pakistan)
It was indeed great honour for me for inaugurating the recently
estab-lished Department of Mechanical Engineering on 30th March,
2019 at CUI, Wah Campus. It was indeed pleasure and satisfaction
visiting state-of-the-art facilities abreast with latest industrial
concepts and applications, spacious lecture halls equipped with
latest teaching aids, workshop with industrial scale manufacturing
facilities; hence imparting professional education. It was also an
honour meeting with the outstanding profes-sional and committed
faculty and staff working as a team under an expe-rienced
leadership. Based on my professional experience as Mechanical
Engineer and political wisdom, I strongly believe that DME will
produce graduates with Outcome Base Education philosophy with all
attributes to
satisfy industrial and societal needs and being in the
industrial hub will provide real world solutions to industry. In
addition, I will encourage females to join the field of mechanical
Engineering. It will be an honour for me to be the honorary member
of DME CUI-Wah for any possible role I can play as a guider or
mentor and will support DME to link with interna-tional and
national scientific community. I strongly believe that DME will
soon be the cen-ter of excellence for Mechanical Engineering and
Sciences and Allied Disciplines.

Drawing and Modeling Competition
DME strongly believe on talent hunting and enhancing skills. In
this regard, Drawing and Modeling competition was organized by Mr
Abuzar Jamil under ASME Student Chapter @ DME between students of
DME. The students used AutoCAD software to 3D model the giv-en
parts. The set target was to finish the part modeling within 60
minutes. Cash prizes and certificates were distributed among the
win-ners by the Prof. Abid HoD DME and other faculty members.
DME believes on students professional train-ing from start and
keeping in view OBE phi-losophy has started students industrial
visits to get exposure to real world Engineering Organizations and
products and processes. In the 2nd semester 2 visits were arranged
to; Heavy Mechanical Complex Taxila and BEST-WAY Cement Limited.
students learned dif-ferent Design, Manufacturing, Assembly,
Pro-cesses of heavy mechanical parts and equip-ment used in Sugar
Plants, Cement Plants. They also learned waste heat recovery
systems, Power Plants, Boilers, Cranes and many more.
All three Chapters have
started active partici-
pation to enhance their
exposures.
Students Competitions Student Week
Sports are a significant and most thrilling activity at the CUI,
Wah. These sports activi-ties are a way to soften tough and

MUHAMMAD REHAN Alhamdulillah, after an year in COMSATS, I am
satisfied that my choice from electrical to mechani-cal was the
best one as it is the mother of all engineering with an amazing
environment and a very helpful faculty. We can gain all what’s
needed to be an engineer. MATI UR REHMAN Allah rewarded me with
3.82 SGPA. I specially thanks to my HOD for giving us an excellent
and best study environment. He and all faculty inspired and
en-couraged me a lot to come over my life problems and focus on my
studies. My accomplishments are due to my teachers effort, my own
diligence and mainly due to
my mother’s prayers. In-Sha-Allah I will continue my journey to
success.
FAISAL AMIN After spending my first year in COMSATS, I felt very
happy about the skills I acquired and the knowledge I gained. I

student services, a devoted highly skilled teaching staff and extra
effort of faculty helped me to achieve such result.
HASEEB ALI SHAH My first year at university was absolutely
wonderful. It has filled with new experiences and excite-ments, and
I have loved every second. Moving away from home made me very
nervous. First month in university was very difficult for me but
meeting with a lot of new friends made a sensa-tion of a second
home for me. We
got very high qualified professors. I had never seen such
teachers in my life before because the method of their teaching is
very practical. COM-SATS is an excellent place to learn and grow.
While I am enjoying my summer holidays.

Research @DME is the major focus for real world problem solving
and state of the art methods and technology developments. Faculty
is actively involved in writing research proposals and have
following national and international funded projects;
Project Title Principal
Investigator Funding
Agency Funding Amount
Systematic optimization of mechanical proper-
ties of grapheme polystyrene nano composite
using Response Surface Methodology. (RSM)

Training of Solar/Wind Turbine
DME is committed to state of art lab equip-
men. Recently DME has purchased Solar/
Wind turbine from Canada by labvolt so the
students will learn about renewable energy
resources for generation of clean and green
electricity. Faculty got trained on equipment
by representatives of LabVolt.
Trainings @ DME
Hydrogen Fuel Cell Training
DME has purchased Hydrogen fuel cell
alongwith hydrogen gas generator. It is a
part of renewable enrgy system labs. The
key idea is to generate hydrogen by elec-
trolysis of water and then use this as fuel
source for vehicles or generation of electric-
ity. This is pollution free process as by
products are water and oxygen.
Industrial Research for problems solving is
at first priority of DME for Real World prob-
lem solving. In order to involve with indus-
trial project an MoU is signed with the fol-
lowing industries;
1. Pakistan Ordnance Factories, Wah
2. Heavy Industries Taxila, Taxila
3. Air Weapon Complex, Hassanabdal
4. NESCOM, Islamabad
5. Orient Corporation Lahore
6. Heavy Mechanical Complex Taxila
7. Century paper and Board Mills
Discussions with other industries are in
progress.
DME always appreciate updated subject knowledge to students. Dr
Aneela Wakeel, Assistant Professor UET Taxilla, is Doctor and
specialist in Material Science field. She has vast experience of
her subject. Engi-neering Material Subject teacher Mr Mu-hammad
Awais Hamza invited her, on the behalf of HoD’s permission, for a
lecture to students on topic ‘’Importance of Engineer-ing
Materials’’. Lecture was conducted on 15 May 2019 and helped
students a lot in understanding how this world is being served by
engineering materials.
