Advantages ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum comprises of a highly breathable

polyurethane top film, a hydrocellular foam pad and a perforated wound contact layer coated with a silicone gel adhesive.

Indications ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum is indicated for the management of

exuding, granulating wounds on the sacrum by secondary intent.

Frequency of change During the early stages of treatment, ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum

dressings should be inspected frequently. Dressing can be left in place for up to five days depending on the condition of the wound and the surrounding skin or until exudate is visible and approaches to within 0.5cm/3/16in of the edge of the dressing pad, whichever is sooner. Local clinical protocols should be taken into consideration.

Removal To remove the ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum dressing, lift one corner

of the dressing and slowly peel back until completely removed from the wound. Sacral dressings should be removed from the top edge and down towards the anus to minimise the chance of transmitting infection.

Contraindications / Precautions ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum should not be used with oxidising agents

such as hypochlorite solutions (eg Eusol) or hydrogen peroxide, as these can break down the absorbent polyurethane component of the dressings.

If reddening or sensitisation occurs use of ALLEVYN should be discontinued and a healthcare professional consulted.

ApplicationSelect an appropriate dressing size. Prepare and clean the skin surrounding the wound by removing excess moisture. Start to remove the protector material and anchor the adhesive side of the dressing to the skin. When positioning ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum dressing, place the narrow end of the dressing a minimum of 2cm (3/4in) above the anal sphincter, then removal any remaining protector material and smooth the dressing over the sacrum.
