This is the time of year when we often reflect on the year just ended by counting our blessings and sharing our love for others with a generous spirit.

The United States is one of the most blessed countries on earth. Although we certainly aren’t problem free, most of us enjoy a standard of living and a way of living that are unmatched throughout the world. Personally, I believe there is a reason for that, and it can be summed up with one word: freedom.

No matter where we live, or what our backgrounds, we as Americans have the privilege of attaining our hearts’ desire—if we work hard, make good choices and set goals for ourselves. In other words, we have the freedom to be whatever we envision. Is it easy to fulfill our dreams? Never. Is it possible? Always.

Time and time again we here at Nu Skin Enterprises have seen Distributors who have started with very little in life go on to become enormously successful. And that’s what this business is all about—giving people the freedom to build a life that is their ideal. We’ve also seen many successful Distributors go on to share their success with others—to give generously from the heart to help make the world a better place.

As we begin 2004, I want to thank you for everything you have done this past year. I look forward to seeing many of you at our international convention in February where we will “Celebrate Freedom” and 20 years of truly phenomenal growth. You have made it all possible and you are true examples of the American spirit of freedom.

Every 18 months we have the opportunity to gather the most incredible group of Distributors together for convention. This year, however, the “Celebrate Freedom” convention will be unpar-alleled for a number of reasons. First, this convention will cel-ebrate a 20 year legacy of successful business around the world. What’s more amazing about this accomplishment is that we have only just begun to touch the surface of global opportunity avail-able to each of you.

Second, for the first time we have new Sales Represenatives join-ing us from the fast growing country of China. These new mem-bers to the family of Nu Skin around the globe are seeing great success with the China model—building significant customer loyalty for the unparalleled Nu Skin product line. This conven-tion will be the greatest conclave of Distributors ever assembled in 20 years of business.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, thousands of Distributors will experience the “spirit” of the company. When I refer to com-pany, I am not referring to the physical components of our com-pany, like buildings and products. I’m referring to the spirit of the individual Distributors who have chosen Nu Skin Enterprises as their vehicle to achieve total freedom—this is the spirit of the company. It is truly amazing to see so many people around the world who are achieving their dreams and helping others to do likewise. The only way to experience this spirit is to come to the “Celebrate Freedom” convention. This will be an event to remem-ber forever. I look forward to seeing you there and recognizing your successes.

Sincerely,

A Message from Corporate A Message from U.S. Management

Blake Roney

Chairman of Nu Skin Enterprises

“I have grown to have the deepest respect for Nu Skin as a leadership company... and have grown to have the deepest love for my team. One of my favorite quotes from the time I was young has been: “If you feed a man a fish, you feed him for a day; if you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” I have always known that is what my life would be about...and now I have found the vehicle where my gifts and talents are dedicated to this end.”

Kim, Kook Ju began to learn about Nu Skin after his wife, Hak Ja, joined as a distributor in 1991. Kook Ju, who was then working as the editor of a Korean newspaper, found in Nu Skin a great opportunity to build an international business, and a great opportunity to travel. After some investigation, he joined his wife in the business, and together they set about building their success.

Although he was driven from day one by his desire to succeed, Kook Ju attributes some of his success to timing. When Nu Skin Korea opened in February 1996, Kook Ju was waiting at the door, ready to enter. Korea now makes up 99 percent of his downline, something Kook Ju is very proud of. As the fi rst Korean Hawaiian Blue Diamond in America, Kook Ju works hard to maintain the energy and optimism that permeates his organization.

Kook Ju loves how Nu Skin has changed his life. He loves the financial freedom his business provides, and he loves the time he can spend with his wife and three children. “This is something a regular salaryman cannot do,” he says. Someone with a salaried job is tied to the offi ce and the clock—but Kook Ju can set his own schedule. “When my children have vacation time, when they aren’t going to school,” he laughs, “it’s my vacation too.”

Travelling is also a pleasure, and his business has allowed him plenty of time to travel. He has traveled to Korea many times, and has been to see many other parts of the world—including a recent family vacation at Disneyland. His upcoming travel plans include a trip to Europe to see Italy, and to spend some time in Rome.

Kook Ju considers his desire for success to be his greatest strength. He understands how much his downline thrives on his success. Even when

hard times have hit, he has stayed focused and consistent. “I must overcome every hard time,” he says. “because I cannot disappoint or damage my downline.” Knowing that his successes, such as becoming a 10 Million Dollar Circle member, energize his downline, he continues to strive for higher and higher goals. He wants his downline to say, “If he can do it, I can do it.”

The level of discipline and consistency Kook Ju exhibits might stem from his years of training and experience in the martial art of Kendo. A 4th degree blackbelt, Kook Ju now teaches Kendo to younger students. As a martial arts master, Kook Ju is very effective. His dojo is number one in the United States after winning tournaments around

the country, and after winning the championship tournament in Ohio.

Kook Ju likes to teach three good habits to new distributors—study the business and the products, make goals, and be consistent. He has seen many new distributors try to jump in too fast without understanding the business, only to end up giving up when things got tough. “Study hard about this business,” says Kook Ju, “and then decide your

goals. And then be consistent.” Kook Ju attributes much of his success to helping new distributors develop these three habits, and by living them himself.

Where does Kook Ju have his sights set now? “I got to $10 million. Next is $20 million,” he says, smiling.

Congratulations, Kim, Kook Ju and Kim, Hak Ja, and welcome to the 10 Million Dollar Circle!

Tomoki Kuneida loves to go fi shing—and considers it vital to his business success. Fishing, he says, trains him to sponsor more effectively. His point is simple: “If you go somewhere where there is no fi shing,” he explains, “you cannot fi sh. And even if there are big fi sh, if you make a mistake setting up your line, you cannot catch them.”

Tomoki fi rst learned about Nu Skin in 1990, when he was working through a Ph.D. program in philosophy and history. He decided that Nu Skin could be his side business while he studied. But before he knew it, he had become a part-time student while pursuing his Nu Skin business full time. Even though his business interrupted his schooling, Tomoki has retained his love of philosophy and continues his studies at a slow pace. If you see him taking a break, chances are he’ll have his nose buried in a book about metaphysics.

Nu Skin has certainly changed Tomoki’s life. “First, very simply, Nu Skin makes me rich,” he says. “Next, Nu Skin gives me freedom of time, and I don’t need to wake up in the morning to go catch the train. And at the same time Nu Skin gives me many friends and many nice people around me.” Tomoki attributes his success to the company. He has many friends with the same abilities that he has, who have entered other companies and have not been as successful. They ask Tomoki how he did it, and he tells them, “I did it with Nu Skin.”

“I truly appreciate the company’s management team,” says Tomoki. “I think Nu Skin is a very solid, slow growing company, and that’s very important. And I think Nu Skin will be one of the greatest network marketing companies in ten years. I appreciate everything the company

has been giving and the guidance it has provided during the past ten years.”

When he introduces Nu Skin to people, Tomoki tells them the story of Nu Skin’s founders. To him, this story represents the credibility of the business and everything that is important in the company. Tomoki also talks about the company ’s fi nancial stability and its product development system, counseling new distributors to fi rst discover the quality of the company for themselves.

During the hard times when he is struggling, Tomoki always returns to the basics—the detailed, step-by-step activity of introducing the products and the business opportunity. He also attends conventions to recharge. “Usually, you don’t face discouragement every month,” he says. “You might have a really hard time maybe once every two years. So you just go to convention and you get the energy again.” When he struggles, he remembers where he started. “The fi rst time I received a $70 check, I was very happy,” he says, “even though I went on to make 100 times that

amount.” Tomoki knows the importance of getting back to the basics.

Tomoki’s goal is a simple one: “I want to continue Nu Skin as long as I can walk,” he says. “I will stay in this business just as usual.” Tomoki is a very persistent person who hates to quit. If something goes wrong, you won’t see him throw in the towel—but you might fi nd him out on a lake, throwing a fi shing line into the water, getting inspiration.

Congratulations, Tomoki Kuneida, and welcome to the 10 Million Dollar Circle!

“The fi rst time I made a $70 check, I was very happy, even though I went on to make 100 times that amount.”

Even though they learned about Nu Skin at different times and in dif-ferent places, Lee and Susan Markrack both knew that they’d found a wonderful company. Lee joined Nu Skin in 1988, after attending a meeting one Saturday afternoon and listening to captivating presenta-tions made by Blake Roney and several leading distributors. “They introduced a young company with quality products and a feeling of honesty about where they wanted to go,” Lee recalls. Excited about this new opportunity, Lee launched his Nu Skin business, and attended an inspiring convention in January 1989.

Susan, who owned a ladies retail store in Toronto that specialized in designer brands, was introduced to LifePak® by her doctor. Intrigued, she came to convention in October 1993 to learn more about Nu Skin, its products, and what network marketing was all about. “I was very impressed by the sense of values and ethics and morals that were represented by the company,” she remembers.

It was at that October 1993 convention that Lee and Susan fi rst met—and immediately hit it off. They were married four months later, on February 14, 1994. “Nu Skin brought two families together and found a beautiful partner for me,” says Lee. “Dreams do come true.” Lee and Susan will be celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary just days before the beginning of the 2004 convention and Nu Skin’s twentieth anniversary celebration.

Needless to say, the Markracks love convention time. They have had fantastic experiences at conventions that couldn’t happen anywhere else. “It is important for new people to attend convention,” says Susan,

“because explaining to someone Nu Skin’s values and direction second hand is hard to do. But Blake, Steve, Sandy, Scott and everyone else at convention just exude vibes of integrity.”

Lee and Susan teach new distributors that this is not a get-rich quick scheme, but one that requires lots of effort. As Lee says, it takes “patience and persistence” as well as being a product of the products. Like Susan tells people: “You can’t do this business if you’re not on LifePak®. You need what it’s got to give you the energy, stamina, health, and belief.” The Markracks take 30 different Pharmanex products every morning, and each of the fi ve bathrooms in their home is stocked with every product the Markracks use.

In addition to the products, the Markracks count their organization as a key to their success. “We have an amazing downline that spreads around the globe,” says Susan. “We are so proud of their personal achievements,” says Lee. One of the Markracks’ goals is to “continue helping anyone who wants to join us in further growth of this wonderful, wonderful company.” They see teamwork and keeping a positive outlook as great

strengths both in their partnership and in their organization.

Finally, Lee and Susan express deep appreciation for the company, its founders, and its leaders. “Our success is due to the quality management people of this company and the staff that supports our efforts,” they say. “We couldn’t succeed without them.”

Congratulations, Lee and Susan Markrack, and welcome to the 10 Million Dollar Circle!

“It takes patience and persistence as well as being a product of the products.”

New Million Dollar Circle Member†

In 1989, John Cini was searching for a network marketing opportunity when a newspaper ad caught his eye. The ad had been placed by a Nu Skin distributor. When he responded to the ad and learned about Nu Skin for the fi rst time, he knew he’d found the right company. “It was like a home run,” he recalls. “Nu Skin looked like it was going to do great things, looked like it was going to create a revolution. It also looked like a company with integrity and vision. And that was very appealing because I wanted something that would be long term.”

Since that day in 1989, John has seen plenty of success—but success didn’t come immediately. “My fi rst year in the business I made $13,500,” he remembers. But by carefully watching his mentors and duplicating what they did, he began to see tremendous growth. During his second year, his income went from $1100 a month to over $10,000 a month. Today, John’s magic words are “Watch the winners!” He encourages new distributors to get excited about the business. “You’ve got to be passionate, and you’ve got to have a long-term vision.”

For John, success comes with long-term commitment. “You have to be committed to it,” he says. “You have to work at it and if you’re in there swinging the bat long enough then eventually you’ll hit a home run.” When John joined the business he committed himself completely. “I knew if I had to do it then I would go and do it,” he says. “If you have to do it, then you burn your bridges. You don’t have any way to escape—you have to make it happen. And that for me was the big key. The people who are successful in this business burn their bridges and make a 100 percent commitment. It’s like eggs and bacon. The chicken is involved, but the pig is committed.”

One of John’s strengths is his ability to help others see the whole picture with the company. He helps them map out their goals and make a commitment. And then he helps them go through the numbers and see the steps they have taken. “We’ve always had a mission to change the world to help people make lives better,” he says. “That’s something we’ve done over and over and over. We help people with our products, and that makes their lives better, whether through anti-aging or just looking better. And we help people in terms of fi nances—we help them skip the rat race and work from home with no commute, no boss, a lot less stress, and more freedom to do what-ever they want to do. And there’s no bigger reward than helping other people quit their jobs.”

John’s current goal is to reach Team Elite. “I’m still not there, but I will be one day,” he predicts. “And I want to join that 20 Million Dollar Circle.” But his dream is to generate an income that enables him to help other people and do good in the world—and not just pay the bills. So far, his efforts have brought much satisfaction. “I work from home. I haven’t had a boss since 1989. My time is my own, my income is phenomenal, and

I’ve been able to travel the world. More importantly than that, I’ve met people who are very successful whom I’ve wanted to emulate—people who have been successful in all areas of life, not just business. And I’ve been able to spend time with those people and learn from them, and it has dramatically changed my life.”

Congratulations, John Cini, and welcome to the Million Dollar Circle!

You could call Barbara Groff-Feldman a true product of the products. “I always get taken for my early to mid 30s,” she says, “and I just don’t have any gray hair.” Barbara attributes the absence of gray hair to LifePak®, which she takes regularly. Her skin benefits from many of the Nu Skin products, but specifically the 180°™ system and the pH Balance Toner, which form her daily facial regimen. She and her family swear by Immune Formula. “When we’ve started to come down with something,” she says, “we keep taking Immune Formula and it just goes away.”

In fact, a dollop of hand lotion was involved in Barbara’s decision to join Nu Skin. After hearing about the company in 1989, she arranged to meet with her eventual sponsor, Lisa Fairbanks. During that meeting, Lisa gave Barbara some hand lotion to try. “I immediately signed on just after trying the hand lotion,” says Barbara, “and hearing about the company, their debt-free situation, their long-term goals, and their commitment to using all of the good and none of the bad. I had been using skin care my entire life and it was very easy to make a decision after trying the hand lotion.” She couldn’t wait to try the Face Lift, so she bought the entire skin care package.

After a year of business presentations, attending all the trainings, and meeting people wherever she could, Barbara found herself making a six-figure income. She left her job selling dental equipment before that year was over. What she loved about the business was the fl exibility it offered her. “I decided to build this business from my home,” she says. “I’ve always been a proponent of people raising their own children.” Barbara had been considering starting an interior design business before she discovered Nu Skin—

“but it would have taken me out of the house too much, and I wouldn’t have had the leverage that I do with network marketing. I decided to jump in because I knew I would be at home with my family at the same time as building this business.”

Barbara cites a recent University of Michigan study that looked for the common denominators between different successful people. The one thing that everyone had in common was that they all sat down to a family dinner at least four or fi ve times a week. “We always have a complete dinner as a family every night,” says Barbara, “and that is so important. It’s simple, and some people might laugh, but it is really important.”

Barbara attributes her success to being coachable, not afraid of talking to people, and being enthusiastic about the products. “The more products you can get in your body and on your skin and hair,” she insists, “the more enthusiasm you will have when you are talking to people.” She advises new distributors to get all of their questions answered, and then “dive in and give it at least a year without looking back and without listening to the doomers and gloomers out there.”

Barbara has her sights set on becoming a Blue Diamond. She continues to work nonstop toward that goal—while fulfi lling her role as mother, and while working on her beautiful watercolor paintings (see them at dwp.bigplanet.com/goinglobal). Her inner drive and her daughter, who watches every move she makes, give her the energy she needs to achieve fi nancial success for her family now, and for generations to come.

Congratulations, Barbara Groff-Feldman and Gary Feldman, and welcome to the Million Dollar Circle!

For Rosie and Lyle Pollett, the road to success started with a visit to Rosie’s hairdresser. Rosie had never been too happy with her hair, so she had started using the Nutriol products that Brian, their son, would send for her birthday. During that visit in 1990, Rosie’s hairdresser was so impressed with the condition of Rosie’s hair that she herself signed up that day, and has been using the products ever since.

Lyle had been checking out the business for several months (“over Rosie’s dead body,” he chuckles) and had already joined Nu Skin as a distributor. Rosie loved the products, but Lyle couldn’t convince her to join him. Her visit to her hairdresser changed everything. “If it’s that easy,” she thought, “maybe I could do it as a business.” So together, Rosie and Lyle made a conscious decision to pursue the business.

The Polletts call themselves “nutritional evangelists.” That title recalls Lyle’s former occupation as a pastor and a traveling evangelist. But it also defi nes the Pollett’s straightforward approach. “We’re trying to help people improve their health,” says Lyle.

They’re a great team: Rosie, who worked as a registered nurse, does the recruiting. Lyle does the training. And the Polletts don’t take “no” for an answer. “Don’t quit when you get your fi rst ‘no,’” Rosie advises. “A ‘no’ is just the fi rst step on the way to ‘yes.’” And like Lyle tells new distributors, it’s hard

work and lots of simple systems that must be followed carefully. “If you’re willing to work hard and have a desire for success,” he says, “ you will succeed—if you do what we say and don’t stop.”

Two words the Polletts use every day are “persistence” and “consistency.” They attribute their success to the fact that they just kept “plugging along.” Like Rosie says, “We have always felt that if you keep hanging in there long enough, things are bound to happen.” They demonstrate that consistency with their commitment to attend every event that’s within

reasonable driving distance—and they ’ve attended every convention held since they joined the business.

All persistence and hard work is paying off for the Polletts. Team Elite is in their sights. And they’ll soon be moving into their new home—with plenty of room for all their hobbies. “I love to sew,” says Rosie, “and I’m hoping to have a nice garden.”

Lyle enjoys woodworking and tinkering with computers. “And of course our grandchildren are a good hobby, too,” says Rosie. “We have fi ve grandchildren—including one new one that was just born in August.” With all of the products, especially LifePak®, keeping them young and vigorous, Rosie and Lyle are looking forward to a bright future.

Congratulations Rosie and Lyle Pollett, and welcome to the Million Dollar Circle!

Shwu-Ling Wang combines a sound knowledge of the products with a warm, caring heart. When her friend fi rst introduced her to Nu Skin in 1989, she promptly did some research to verify the Nu Skin products. As a registered nurse, Shwu-Ling was naturally concerned about how the products might affect the well-being of the body. When her research showed the products to be of very good quality and very beneficial, Shwu-Ling committed to using them, and confidently placed a large order. “I’m 200 percent committed to the products,” she would tell her friend. “Nobody can switch me to other ones!”

After attending their second meeting, Shwu-Ling and her husband decided that Nu Skin would be a good business opportunity as well. They had children, and Shwu-Ling wanted to be home with them. She liked the prospect of a fl exible schedule that would allow her to take care of her kids even while building a business. Plus, the business kept her involved in the world outside her home. Her vision grew as she got out and talked to people, attended meetings, and began to understand attitudes. “I saw the whole picture, the whole wide world,” she says.

Shwu-Ling loves to see lives change because of the products and opportunity she introduces. She helps new distributors get to know the products and love them. Then, she insists, they have to learn how to help other people. “I want them to

commit to the products and to their self growth,” she says. “Then they have to commit to the vision of Nu Skin. Nu Skin’s vision is not only to make products that make money. We also want to help people be healthier. We would like to help people solve their problems. I want new distributors to know that when they join Nu Skin it’s not only for money, but for a lot of things beyond the sight of money.”

Relying on her faith and counting on her own enthusiasm, commitment, and persistence keeps Shwu-Ling going strong. “I taught my son that you have to be positive,” she says.

“When you’re negative it doesn’t help—it just makes things worse.” When things get hard, she turns to prayer, rereads articles about Nu Skin products, and talks to her sponsor, Betty Sung. She tries to learn something from every trial. Time and time again, her optimism and persistence pay off, and she is back on her way toward achieving her goals.

What is Shwu-Ling working for now? She wants to fi nd more people to do the business. She wants to help more distributors earn the title of Executive. But most of all, she wants to reach out. “I want to help people,” she says. “I have a heart, and I want to help people.”

Congratulations, Shwu-Ling Wang, and welcome to the Million Dollar Circle!

Company Overview

Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc. (together with its affi liates, the “Company”) is a global direct selling company that operates in more than 30 countries throughout North and South America, Asia and Europe. The Company operates in three divisions: (1) the Nu Skin division markets premium quality skin care and personal care products; (2) the Pharmanex division is a science-based developer of nutrition products; and (3) the Big Planet division markets and distributes Internet, technology, telecommunication and other products.

Distributors

The Company markets its products through a network of independent distributors. As of December 31, 2001, the Company had a global sales force of approximately 570,000 active independent distributors located throughout its markets. For purposes of this summary, an “Active Distributor” is a distributor who placed an order for products, promotional materials or services or renewed their distributorship during the quarter. In the United States, the Company had an average of 65,783 Active Distributors each quarter in 2001.

Compensation

There are two fundamental ways in which a distributor can earn compensation:• Through retail markups on sales of products purchased at wholesale prices• Through commissions (sometimes called bonuses) paid on one’s product sales and the sales of other distributors in one’s

downline sales network.

As with any other sales opportunity, the compensation earned by distributors varies signifi cantly. The cost to become a distributor is very low. People become distributors for various reasons. Many people become distributors simply to enjoy the Company’s products at wholesale prices. Some join the business to improve their skills or to experience the management of their own business. Others become distributors, but for various reasons never purchase products from the Company. Consequently, many distributors never qualify to receive commissions.

Generating meaningful compensation as a distributor requires considerable time, effort, and commitment. This is not a get-rich-quick program. There are no guarantees of financial success.

Retail Markups

Distributors can buy Nu Skin, Pharmanex and Big Planet products from the Company at wholesale prices for resale to customers or for personal consumption. Some Big Planet products are services, such as Internet access, on which there is no retail mark-up earned by distributors. In addition, some Big Planet products are lower margin products offered through Internet mall affi liates. Consequently, lower levels of commissions are paid on the sale of such products. The Company’s suggested retail markup is 43% on most of its personal care and nutrition products. However, distributors are free to set their own selling price and may personally consume some of the products they purchase. As a result, the Company does not currently provide an estimate of aver-age income from retail sales nor does it include distributor retail income in its average commission infomation.
