NEU NEW
High feed milling with high cutting performance
A new tool system for high feed milling adds smaller diameter capability to the existing DAH systems. Four end mills with Weldon toolholders expand the DAH system with smaller cutting edge diameters of 12, 16, 20 and 25 mm. They are fitted with two to four indexable inserts. All holders are designed with internal cooling and have a TiN coating to protect against corrosion and the impact of chips. The newly developed indexable inserts, each of which features two cutting edges, are clamped securely by means of a screw. The specially precision-sintered chip surface geometry and the large cutting radius on the face side ensure a soft cut and minimise the load. A smaller cutting radius on the inside guarantees quick and safe plunging. The maximum cutting depth is 1.0 mm, the cutting edge corner radius 0.4 mm. Optimum feed rates per tooth are between 0.5 and 2.5 mm (for steel, between 0.5 and 1.5 mm) at a vc of between 180 and 260 m/min. The tough substrate SA4B, which has proved very successful in high feed milling, is suitable for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium and titanium.

The effective cutting diameter deff must be calculated to obtain the correct RPM and the cutting feed. The effective cutting diameter is calculated using the following values and formula.ap = depth of cutDs = cutter diameterKD = from correction value chartdeff = KD + (Ds - 12)
