Introduction

What is network neutrality? Who wants to get rid of it? Why is it important? What is at stake? What is congress doing? Pros Cons

Page 4: Net neutrality

What is network neutrality?

Network Neutrality is the principle that internet users should be able to access web content, download or upload files, and communicate in methods of their choice without restrictions or limitations imposed by their ISP.

Page 5: Net neutrality

What does it really mean??

#1 All content is equal and all sites must be equally accessible. Neutrality means that once you have the internet plan you should allow to access any website you want without discrimination .

#2 it also means that no matter what telecom operator you’re with you should able to access all data on the internet at the exact same speed.

Ex. Simply put , just because your telecom company hypothetically deal with say flipkart shouldn’t mean that they can make the amazon website or any other independent website load slower for you, so slower infect that you eventually give up and force to shop at the flipkart because it’s the only one who load faster then other sites.

Page 10: Net neutrality

# Imagine you go to a children’s park and you pay a hundred rupees to get in and then you head over the slide but a guy stops you and say “sorry sir of you want to use slide, you have to buy slide access pack ,sir “ so you decide to go on the swing instead except the same men stops you and he says “No, to use this swing you need to buy special swing set –pack ,sir”

# Okay fine any how you buy a access swing-pack for 50 bucks. So now when you try to swing fast same guy stops you and say if you want to go faster you have to pay EVEN MORE for the high-speed swing pack sir otherwise sorry you can’t go faster .

# At this point you probably thinking that what was the original 100 rupees charge for if I can’t even use it to do anything? That was just for privilege of standing on the grass sir .In the short this is what telecom operator want to do right now

Republicans/contributors from phone and cable companies are against Net Neutrality and the FCC's authority to protect consumers' rights to connect to the internet.

Senate is trying to ensure the broadband Internet continues to serve as a source of innovation, free speech and job growth

“The Internet Freedom, Broadband Promotion, and Consumer Protection Act of 2011”

Communications Act, safeguarding the future of the internet.

Page 13: Net neutrality

Here it is what should you demand?

1) freedom: to be able to access information or entertainment on the term you choose not to be pushed into the consumer decisions by large telecom companies.

2) equality: because internet is probably the last frontier where everyone is equal.

3)Future : and lastly it is about the future because internet is the utility not an luxury .
