What are the 3 parts of neurons and their functions?
1) Perikaryon• The part of the neuron which immediately surrounds
the nucleus• Usually used synonymously with neuron or soma
2) Dendrites• Carry messages and signals away from the cell body
3) Axons• Carry messages and signals towards the cell body
What are the 3 functions of supporting cells?
1) Nourishment of neurons
2) Insulation of neurons
3) Protection of neurons
What are 4 features of nervous tissue?
Neuron
Cell body
Neuron process
Nuclei of supportingcells (Neuroglia)
What is the main function of this tissue?
Transmit electrical signals from sensory
receptors and to effectors that control
their activity
