12CM Our smallest ceramic collar electrode designed for use on 8 - 12mm neon tubing. Neon tubing must not exceed 8 feet andconsideration to the electrode size must be exercised during processing. This electrode is rated to operate at 30mAmaximum current. Correct processing levels must be monitored with a Milliamp Meter and Torr or Positive Pressure Gauge.
13CL This electrode is designed for use on 12 – 13mm neon tubing. It is rated for operation on 30 – 45mA transformers and hasa longer shell for use on Accuwall classic tubing and units that may require higher current levels during processing. Wesuggest the use of 12CM electrodes on smaller diameter units of 8 – 10mm tubing.
15CS This short (2 inch) electrode was designed for short length 15mm diameter neon units up to 6 feet long. It operates on up to30mA transformers and is best suited to lead or lead-free glass. The Accuwall classic glass requires electrodes capable oflonger processing times. Due to the short length of the shell, the electrode must be carefully monitored to insure it is notoverheated during processing. It is ideal in applications where standing electrode height is a factor.
15CM Our most popular electrode for use in housings or where short returns are used. It is rated for operation on 30 – 45mAtransformers and can be used on neon units up to 10 feet long provided processing is monitored with all necessary gauges.Since it has a 500mA processing level, this electrode can also be used on smaller diameters of tubing.
15CL This electrode can be used on all 15mm neon tubes and is rated for use on transformer up to 80mA. It can be ordered in 2different glass sleeve lengths (2.625 & 2.875 inches). It is not recommended for use on tubing diameters smaller than15mm due to the high processing current required to fully process the shell. This electrode has successfully outperformedall electrode life tests against our competitors. This shell construction requires full system gauges when processing for bestresults to insure all recommended levels are achieved and vacuum levels during bombardment are monitored to insure shellsare evenly processed.
19CM This cold cathode electrode operates on 120 – 180mA transformers. It is designed for use on 18 – 25mm cold cathodetubing and must not be used on smaller diameters. It requires a bombarder 15KVA or larger to properly heat the shells andglass during production. System requirements and performance must be met before attempting cold cathode production.
19CL This cold cathode electrode operates on up to 200mA transformers and has a longer shell than the 19CM. Again it requiresa larger bombarder, 15KVA or larger and system requirements must be met before attempting cold cathode production.

ACCUWALL®
ACCUWALL® tubing is the machine-drawn colored glass that’s easy tobend, opening a world of design freedom for neon signmakers. Itoffers a more consistent wall thickness outside diameter, and moreuniform color than traditional colored glass tubing, allowing you tobend and process the sturdiest and most vivid signage attainable inless time, with far less breakage.
ACCUWALL® tubing is available uncoated, or coated with EGL’sproprietary rare-earth phosphors. All have fire-polished ends.
COLD CATHODEHistorically, “cold cathode” refers to luminous tubing which is largerthan 15mm in diameter and operates on a minimum current of 60milliamps. This larger diameter tubing is often used for interior coveand accent lighting. EGL cold cathode tubing is coated using thesame quality coating techniques as is used on our small diametertubing. This tubing is available in eight-foot lengths, in 18, 20, and25mm diameters. Standard and “high output” whites, as well assome colors, are produced.
UP TO 300%BRIGHTER THANCONVENTIONALNEON, PLUSGREATER OUTPUTSTABILITY ANDSTAIN RESISTANCE
This newest generation of neontubing from EGL is an outcomeof recent advances in televisionscreen technology that utilize thebrilliant picture quality you enjoytoday.
Research revealed that rare-earth chemicals incorporated inphosphor coatings emitextremely narrow bandwidths oflight (significant because thenarrower the bandwidth, thebrighter, purer, and more vividthe light emission - the wider thebandwidth, the dimmer andmore washed-out.)
Rare-earth phosphors were alsofound to maintain their purity andhigh output levels far longer thanconventional phosphors, offeringsuperior performance on allcounts.
EGL has combined the latest inrare-earth phosphor technologywith over 70 years of experience
in neon tube making to createan entirely new generation ofultra-high performance neontubing - C.L. Designer® series.Available in a range of ninewhites and six colors, C.L.Designer® tubing is the idealalternative to conventional neonfor channel letter applications formajor reasons:
- 25 to 300 percent higher out-put significantly boosts the bril-liance and visibility of all rigidand vinyl plastic channel letterfascia colors - including bluesand greens that were previouslydifficult to illuminate. Higher out-put can also allow the number oftubing runs to be reduced, cut-ting material and labor costssignificantly.
- Superior color purity and accu-racy enable channel letters tomatch corporate color schemeswith unmatched precision andconsistency.
- Enhanced color stability andresistance to staining and outputdepreciation keep channel let-ters looking brighter and morecolorful significantly longer thanletters containing conventionalneon tubing.
- Super-bright C.L. Designer®
color tubing boosts the vividnessand intensity of colored plasticfascias for far beyond that ofconventional white tubing.
- Blending of three rare-earthphosphors to produce each bril-liant shade of white creates arange of cool-to-warm variants, allowing fine tuning of the illumi-nated plastic fascia colors tomatch corporate color schemesprecisely.
While the outstanding propertiesof C.L. Designer® tubing make itparticularly suitable for channelletter applications, it is equallydesirable for open neon signageand architectural lighting requir-ing super-bright whites, brilliantcolors, and long term coloraccuracy. It processes as easilyas conventional phosphor-coatedtubing and is available in 7, 8, 9,10, 11, 12, 13, 15, and 18mmdiameters.
For best results use EGLAdvantageTM Electrodes and EGL99.999% pure gases.
Channel letters illuminated with C.L.Designer® tubing (right) produce signifi-cantly more light and truer whites thanconventional tubing (left) which emits abluish cast and alters the color of theplastic fascia.
C.L. Designer® tubing (right) is sobright, single runs can often be usedinstead of double runs of conventionalwhite tubing (left), saving material andlabor costs while eliminating the bluishcast of conventional white tubing.
Using colored rare-earth tubing behindcolored plastic fascias producessignage that is not only brighter butmore vivid and pure than signageilluminated with conventional whitetubing. Compare identical blue plasticfascia colors illuminated byconventional white tubing (left) andEGL’s Horizon Blue (right).
Channel letter images represent actual differences between conventional and C.L. Designer® tubing with the limits of 4-color processprinting. See your EGL representative for stunning real life examples.
The rare-earth phosphor emits anarrower band of wavelengths, andtherefore a purer, more vivid color thanthe conventional phosphor.

Excellent for clear red units,or for coated tubing.
For low-voltage fluorescenttubes and fluorescent lamps. Mercury required. Not recommended foroutdoor use.
EGL’s standard mixture for warmer climates - used in clear or fluorescent-coatedtubing with added mercury.
The best for all-weatherapplications, from below-zeroregions to the tropics. Thehigh percentage of Ne in K4provides the heat necessaryto completely vaporize mer-cury under cold weather con-ditions. Mercury required.Proven 14 to 49% brighterthan competitive cold weath-er gases by an independent laboratory. The finest and safest gas forpreliminary bombarding, orfor flushing-out repair units.
For clear glass tubes; giving apale flesh-pink color, or whenusing noviol-coated tubing, awarm gold tone. Must be used at a lower pressure than normal (4-6mm typically). In coated glass, Krypton (Kr)has much the same effect asAr. In clear glass, the colorcould be best described as pale platinum. Should not befilled to pressures higher than 12mm because of the tendency to develop lineardischarge. Xenon (Xe) is similar to Kr incolor, but principally used inspecial effects for linear dis-charge, or for high-pressureflash tubes. This is a relatively high-resistance gas.
Simply eliminating system shut-downs for flask replacementswill justify investing in thissystem. In addition, it offers:- Gas purity: Gas bottled in
cylinders maintains its highestpurity.- Tighter control: With the
system’s pressure gauge,stopcock leakage is virtuallynon-existent.- Better economy: Liter-for-liter,
costs are reduced bypurchasing in bulk. EGL tanksare available in 25, 50, and100 liter sizes.
Additionally, since the tanks arecapable of being filled to amuch higher pressure thanglass flasks, 100% of gasvolume will be used rather thanapproximately 80% whenutilizing the glass flasks.
The EGL Gas Transfer Systemprovides uninterrupted flow ofpure Neon, Argon, or specialgas mixtures into tubes for
neon signs, cold cathode, etc.A precision-made filling valveeliminates the use of two glassstopcocks. Clean gas flow isguaranteed, as compared todouble-stopcock systems whichrequire constant lubrication andcan allow air leakage into glassflasks. No entrapped greasevapors are automaticallypushed into the neon tubeswhen the glass stopcocks areused.
No gas losses are incurredwhen changing glass flaskswith small immeasurable vol-umes of remaining gases. Nolabor charges are incurred foreach changing of replacementflasks. For example, one fifty(50) liter cylinder will eliminate50 bottle changes. A systemcan hold 100% of its gasesindefinitely, unlike glass stop-cocks which cannot preventseepage for long periods oftime.

A NOTE ABOUT VENTURI MIXERS:Some glassblowers construct their own mixer “T”s fromglass or plumbers’ parts, and use common valves to controlair and gas-flow. Although seemingly cost-conscious, thatprocedure has a negative effect on the overall quality of thework. The reason - control. To make clean joints with leadglass, a stable, blue-violet flame is required. If a low-costsetup is being used and difficulties are experienced, it isstrongly recommended that a proper mixer be tried.

EGL MERCURY INJECTORThe EGL Mercury Injectorimproves operator safety anddispensing accuracy. Pressing abutton advances a plunger, dispensing 10 microliters(100mg) of mercury, equivalentto a ball 2mm in diameter--thecorrect amount for most argon-filled “neon” tubes.
The reservoir has a 500 micro-liter capacity, good for 50applications. Marked in 10microliter increments, it enablesthe user to calibrate total volumeby setting the plunger position. The injector dispensing tube endis blunt, reducing the dangerassociated with sharp medicalsyringes commonly employed to
inject mercury. In addition, itoffers the repeatable accuracyneeded to prevent over-fillingthat causes mercury condensa-tion and tube darkening, andunder-filling that reduces tubebrightness.

MANIFOLD AND COMPLETEPUMPING SYSTEMFOR NEON TUBING
SUPERIOR DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION PROVIDE THEFASTEST, MOST CONSISTENTPUMPING SPEEDS, AND THEBRIGHTEST, CLEANEST NEONTUBES ATTAINABLE
The MAXI-VAC™ manifold virtually eliminatesthe leakage, breakage, contamination, anddowntime common to older systems byeliminating the components that cause it.Gone forever are the grease-type stopcocks, numerous connections, and maze of fragileglass tubing which result in wasted repairtime and, still worse, finished neon productsof inconsistent quality.
LARGE BORE, GREASE-FREE STOPCOCKS
The MAXI-VAC™ manifold employs the fewestnumber of stopcocks to minimize the possi-bility of leakage. The two 25mm diametermain stopcocks are larger than on any otherpumping manifold, providing the highestpumping rates. The stopcocks are machinedfrom durable Teflon®, and feature a newcoarse thread design that provides long life, fast actuation, and easy removal and re-threading for cleaning. The stopcocks arealso grease-free, eliminating the contamina-tion problem of grease-type stopcocks 100percent.
HEAVY WALL, LARGE DIAMETERMANIFOLD TUBING
Short lengths of heavy wall 50mm diameterborosilicate tubing are welded in a compactconfiguration which has the fewest possiblenumber of connections, then annealed toremove strain. The result is an extremelystrong assembly that provides the highestpossible flow rates, maximum vacuumintegrity, minimal gas waste, and the easiestinterior access for cleaning.
