Tile is extremely heavy and may have sharp edges. It is, therefore, necessary to wear protective gloves at times when dealing with it. We recommend the use of single or double suction cups which will help in ensuring that the operator's safety is not compromised.

Carefully wipe the surface of the tile to remove any dust or moisture, position the suction cups on the face of the tile and make sure that they adhere to the surface properly.

SAFE HANDLING:

For safe handling of Tiles on-site we highly recommend the use of a specialist tile handling frame for larger formats, the full-frame with four suction cups is suitable, with smaller formats two double suction cups are su�icient.

CUTTING:

Tile requires high-quality diamond blades for cutting; (if hiring cutting equipment, please ensure this is provided with the wet diamond tools and take appropriate measures to provide e�icient ventilation in the work area. Always wear approved eye, boot & hand protection when fabricating porcelain.

LINEAR CUTS:

For most cuts, we recommend the use of a wet saw machine. These are available for cutting lengths of 100 mm to 2200 mm. The Raimondi Bolt range of bridge wet saw machines are available in various lengths. For linear cuts of 1500-3000 mm, we recommend the use of a cutting guide with cutting carriage. Always use a handling frame with suction cups where necessary. The Raimondi FREE-CUT Cutting System is available for lengths up to 4000 mm.

TRANSPORTATION INSTRUCTIONS

HAND CUTTING SYSTEM

Mark the portion to be removed at the ends of the tile with a pencil. Position the cutting guide with cutting carriage so that the references on the guide coincide with the lines marked on the panel.

Lock the cutting guide with the cutting carriage in place using the suction cups. To guaranty correct scoring, the pressure and movement of the cutting carriage must be constant along the whole length of the cut. Score one end of the panel by 15cm pushing the cutting carriage towards the edge of the panel. Complete the scoring up to the opposite end of the panel.

Using the cutting guide, move the panel until scoring line protrudes 5-10cm from work surface. Release the cutting guide from suction cups and move towards the middle of the panel. Start the cutting-o� process by positioning cutting-o� pliers in line with the line scored on the panel. Exert progressive pressure until you notice that cutting-o� process has begun. Go to the opposite end and position cutting-o� pliers in line with a line scored on the panel. Exert progressive pressure until you notice the cutting-o� process has begun. To complete the cutting-o� process, one or more operators must grip the portion to be removed and exert progressive pressure. Sharp and rough edges should be smoothed and finished with a diamond bu�er or sanding pad.

Use a bridge saw running to cut from one hole to the next. Ensure the bridge saw is running at minimum speed to decrease the stress on the slab.

Ensure that at least 5 mm space is left between the edge of the slab and the point where the hole has to be made. The radius of the corners must be a minimum of 3 mm.

Angles cut without necessary radius length create a stresspoint, whereas the large radius maintains the structural resistance. Make sure to never leave the corners with 90˚ angle cuts.

Use a drill bit smaller than 3 mm to drill corners of the cut-out.

CUTTING GUIDE WITH CUTTING CARRIAGE

CUTTING GUIDE WITH CUTTING CARRIAGE

1. Plaster the surface of the floor to be tiled smooth. Complete the plastering and curing at least two weeks prior to the tiling.

2. Before fixing NEOM tiles, lay them out in the desired pattern and make sure that they give an acceptable blend of colour. Please note that certain amount of shade variation is inherent in the manufacturing of a fully vitrified ceramic tile. The company will bear no liability after the tiles are fixed.

3. For best results while fixing NEOM tiles, we recommend the use of a tile fixing adhesive. Please follow the tile fixing instructions provided along with the adhesive.

4. Follow these instruction for fixing NEOM tiles using sand and cement: → Use cement and sand mortar in 1:4 ratio. Add water to create a consistent paste. → Do not further add any further water and apply the mixture within an hour after the mixing is complete. → Apply a 20-30 mm layer of bedding material over an area of 1 square meter at a time, on the surface of the area.

Apply a fine slurry to the back of the tile to ensure proper and full bedding. Press gently for even adherence at the back of the tile. Do not use iron hammer or some heavy material to press the tile.

5. For fixing NEOM tiles on Dado (Wall), we recommend the use of adhesive. Please follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the same. We do not recommend the use of sand and cement for fixing on Dado (Wall).

6. Mark and layout the tiles from the center of the area to be tiled so that cut tiles, if any, will be on the outer edges towards the walls.

7. Complete the tile laying process by pressing the center of the NEOM tiles. This ensures the tiles firmly fit into place, along the walls/floors.

8. We advise you to maintain a mininum grouting space of 3 mm between the tiles along the expansion joints.9. Allow 3-4 days for bed curing. After this period fill the joints with grouts.10. Fifteen minutes after finishing the grouting process, wipe o� the excess grout with a damp sponge and polish the

tiles with a soft and dry cloth for a clean surface. The tiles can also be cleaned by mild acid (however, Hydrofluoric Acid and its derivatives should not be used).

11. The company does not accept any liability in case of problems arising out of non-adherence of these fixing instructions.

12. We advise you to please check the codes of design, shades and grade of tiles prior to installation as the company shall not be responsible once the tiles have been laid.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

INTRODUCTION:

Neom tiles are easy to clean and maintain. Regular cleaning andmaintenance of the tile accentuates the aesthetics and gives the surface an appealing shine.

INITIAL CLEANING:

It is to be noted that the initial cleaning done after laying the floor is extremely important. The initial cleaning helps in removing any residue of mortar, adhesives and epoxy that may be left in the joints. We recommend using an acid-based detergent in 1:5 ratio with water. Rub this solution on the surface energetically to clean the surface properly. Next, it is equally important to rinse the surface thoroughly with water to remove traces of the detergent used.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE:

NEOM tiles are manufactured under high firing temperature and the use of high-quality raw materials makes it waterproof. Minimum absorption rate doesn’t allow dirt to penetrate the surface, but it is necessary to clean it from the surface. We do not recommend using detergentscontaining waxes for cleaning the surface, as it may form an unwanted greasy layer on the surface. The appropriate choice of detergent has been mentioned in the following points. Especially after theinstallation of polished surfaces, we recommend covering the surface with particle board or any other suitable material to protect it from dirt and on-site processing.

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS:

For the Tiles laid in heavy footfall areas like airports, shopping malls and public spaces, we recommend using automatic cleaning machines with suction. These machines ensure deep cleaning of the surface while removing liquids that may cause soiling and subsequently prevents the formation of any unwanted layers on the surface. Any readily available detergent can be used to clean the tiles, except Hydrofluoric acid or its compounds. Always keep the concentration of thedetergent as low as possible to speed up the maintenance process and keep the costs in check.We recommend using large-sized, bright or polished surfaces for raised floors. These surfaces can be easily dry cleaned or it requires fewer amounts of liquids. Once, the floor has been laid, it is essential to clean it properly with the necessary products.
