Positive Ageing in Winter Winter News 2017 It might be cold, it might be raining, but fear not, our army of members are keeping up with their walking, table tennis, Zumba gold, Pilates, yoga & Line dancing. It never ceases to amaze me how keen people are when they enjoy their activities and their newfound friends. Our two new activities Zumba Gold and Pilates for Seniors have been very well received. If you have not tried them yet, come over and see for yourself. Zumba and Pilates are both great routines that will give you better posture, improve fitness and enhance your quality of life. Last May, the Affinity Club hosted Australia’s Biggest Morning tea at the Dalkeith Hall. Our volunteers (pictured above) were brilliant in making this fundraising event for Cancer Council a success. There were great donations from local businesses which make our raffle successful including Martineau’s French Pattiserie, Dalkeith Village Newsagency & Post Office, Dalkeith Guardian Pharmacy, Yabba Dabba Coffee & restaurant, Dalkeith IGA, LJ Hooker and Space Estate agent. The event raised a total of $1017. Thank you to our members, families and friends who came, enjoyed the delicious cakes and bought the raffle tickets. Another highlight of the past three months were the speakers that came to talk to our club. We learned more about our diets, arthritis and how to plan our financial affairs. Positive Ageing in Winter
Winter News 2017
It might be cold, it might be raining, but fear not, our army of members are keeping up with their walking, table tennis, Zumba gold, Pilates, yoga & Line dancing.
Our volunteers (pictured above) were brilliant in making this
fundraising event for Cancer Council a success.
See our activities’ schedule at the back of this newsletter for our August and September presentations.
As well as our Monthly Monday Movie Club, which is scheduled on the third Monday of the month, there are now Movies at the Old Village cinema on the first Wednesday of the Month. After enjoying Morning Tea at NCC, you can join us at the Old Village Cinema to watch a movie, in comfortable surroundings, for only $5 per person. Come out and enjoy a mid-week treat with other members.
Also, you might like to know that we have purchased a couple of IT books to help our volunteers with all your questions regarding Windows 10 and iPhone 7. The Computer Support club aims to help everyone that has a computer/smart phone issue. Try us any Thursday at 10am and you will have your questions answered and enjoy a lovely morning tea in great company.
The number of Mah-Jong players is increasing and it makes me happy to see their enthusiasm. New tables and games with larger size pieces have been bought to increase the quality of your enjoyment. There are all levels of players but one thing in common for all of them is their interest to learn promptly and share it with others. If you can play, come and join these avid players every Thursday at 1pm at NCC’s back room.
I would like to congratulate the Waratah Walkers who reached their eight birthday last May. I could not recommend it enough, how nice the walk is and how terrific the Walkers are. Rain or shine, they walk happily. It is a must try option for anyone.
Finally, it is membership renewal time. If you are not a member of the Affinity Club yet, you might like to consider becoming one. The annual fee is only $25. Your membership card will give you discounts on all our activities as well as giving you a Waratah Coffee price of $4 when showing it at Yabba Dabba (Next door to Dalkeith Hall). This is yet another excuse to meet up after your regular activities. New members are always welcome. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you want further information about our club.
Keep warm and keep in touch with us. There is something for everyone at the Affinity Club. As always, your feedback is valuable to me. Keep it coming!
Monday Monthly Movie ClubWhat a nice selection of movies we saw at the Windsor Cinema: Their Finest (April), The Zookeeper’s Wife (May) and The Sense of an Ending (June).
We enjoyed discussing the films and eating lunch at Martineau’s, the French Pattiserie. Our members have a special $10 lunch deal of sandwiches and pastries. It is a great occasion to meet up and chat in a very informal atmosphere.
We meet up the third Monday of each month. Please check our activitiy schedules for dates and times. For catering purposes, it is advisable to RSVP, please call or send me an email to confirm your attendance.
Every month, our Affinity Club members go into a draw to win a movie voucher. Congratulations to our draw winners: Jean Stone (April), Joyce Brockway (May), Jeannette Williams (June).
