The boy went to the necklace store to buy a necklace for his mother on her birthday. He wanted it to be special for her.

• He looks for 3 different types of minerals to put into the necklace. They are topaz, diamond, and fluorite. The topaz had a very shiny luster. The diamond had many colors, had a great luster, and was the hardest mineral.

• The fluorite was a color her mother would love though. It was a hard choice for her to make. There were tons of different colors for each kind of mineral.

• After he looked around for awhile he decided he wanted a purple diamond. He wanted to get his mother that one because her favorite color was purple, it had the luster, and was a very hard mineral so it would not break very easily.

• He couldn’t find the purple diamond that he wanted to get his mom. They were all out of it and he had to pick a new mineral for the necklace.

• He decided to buy a blue diamond necklace in the end. It took three to five days to make. When he gave it to his mom, she loved it and they were both happy!
