NU Hits the Road to Face Indiana and Purdue The Huskers see their first conference away matches as they face Big Ten opponents Indiana on Saturday, April 5 at 11 a.m. in Bloomington, Ind. before moving on to West Lafayette, Ind. to challenge Purdue on Sunday, April 6 at noon. Nebraska sits at 8-10 overall after a double-loss weekend last week with 3-4 and 0-7 defeats to Micigan State and Michigan, respectively. Nebraska and Indiana have met twice in Nebraska’s history with the Huskers leading the series 2-0. NU and Purdue have met three times in history with Nebraska leading the series 2-1. Huskers In The ITA National Rankings Nebraska remained out of the ITA Top 75 when the new rankings were released on Tuesday, April 1. There are seven Big Ten teams in the ITA Top 75 and these teams are No. 11 Northwestern, No. 17 Michigan, No. 34 IIllinois, No. 37 Purdue, No. 43 Indiana, No. 53 Ohio State and No. 55 Minnesota. Michigan and Northwestern are the only two Big Ten teams inside the Top 25. The Boilermakers are currently ranked No. 37 in the national ITA Top 75 rankings with no ranked singles players and one ranked doubles pair in No. 70 Krisztina Kapitany and Mara Schmidt. Purdue went 18-6 in 2013 with a 8-3 mark in the Big Ten Conference. The Boilermakers lost 4-0 in the Big Ten Tournament second round to Michigan and were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament in the second round by then-No. 6 ranked Miami by a score of 4-0. The Huskers and Boilermakers have met three times in the program’s history, with Nebraska leading the series 2-1. The last match between Nebraska and Purdue was on Friday, April 5, 2013 that resulted in a 6-1 victory for the Scarlet and Cream.
Looking Ahead Nebraska continues their four-match road trip next weekend with duals against Northwestern on Saturday, April 12 at 11 a.m. in Evanston, Ill. before moving on to Illinois on Sunday, April 13 at noon in Urbana, Ill.
