DESTINATION OMAHAAll season, the Huskers were looking to get back to the NCAA Semifinals for the first time since 2008, with added motivation this year as the NCAA Championship returns to the CenturyLink Center in Omaha for the third time in 10 years. The NCAA Championship was last in Omaha in 2008, when the Huskers fell to eventual champ Penn State in the semifinals. The final four was also in Omaha in 2006, when NU beat Stanford to win the program’s third NCAA title. Those matches remain the most attended matches in NCAA volleyball history with 17,430 at the Nebraska vs. Penn State semifinal in 2008 and 17,209 at the Nebraska vs. Stanford championship match in 2006.

2015 NEBRASKA VOLLEYBALL 1995, 2000, 2006 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
• Wong-Orantes earned two Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week awards in the month of October, the most recent following 27 digs at Illinois on Oct. 17, a career high for a three-set match.
POSITION SWITCH PAYS OFF FOR AMBER ROLFZENJunior Amber Rolfzen made a position switch from outside hitter to middle blocker in the offseason, and the return has been significant.
• Rolfzen leads the Big Ten in blocking with 1.61 blocks per set, ranking third in the nation. She capped the regular season with the first All-Big Ten selection of her career and also added AVCA All-Region honors.• Rolfzen’s block average is the best by a Husker since Melissa Elmer’s school-record 2.17 in 2005.• Rolfzen posted at least five blocks in eight straight matches from Sept. 26 to Oct. 23. The last Husker to do that was three-time All-American Melissa Elmer in 2005.• Rolfzen was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 12 following a pair of eight-block matches along with a season-best 12 kills against Michigan.• Rolfzen again earned the weekly defensive honor on Nov. 2 after matching her season high of eight blocks against Maryland, averaging 2.0 blocks per set in sweeps of the Terrapins and Rutgers.• Rolfzen added a third Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor on Nov. 30 after 17 kills and 15 blocks combined against Illinois and Penn State, including a .567 hitting percentage.
HUSKERS TURN TO SOPHOMORE SETTER HUNTERRedshirt sophomore Kelly Hunter coordinates the Husker attack with 11.57 assists per set and earned AVCA All-Region accolades in her first season as the Huskers’ starting setter. The Papillion, Neb., native - who was high school teammates with Husker twins Kadie and Amber Rolfzen - has helped the Huskers play at a faster tempo this season and has the Huskers hitting .275 on the season after hitting .236 in 2014. Although she played sparingly in 16 matches as a freshman in 2013, Hunter is seeing the first regular match action of her career after redshirting last year behind senior Mary Pollmiller. Hunter’s impact was felt immediately as the season began:
• Hunter earned Big Ten Co-Setter of the Week on Nov. 23 after posting 12.71 assists per set and leading the Huskers to a combined .340 hitting percentage in two wins.• Hunter was named the Big Ten Setter of the Week on Aug. 31 and the Nebraska Invitational MVP on opening weekend after a 50-assist, 11-dig, eight-kill performance against Pittsburgh.• Hunter had a career-high 57 assists and nine kills in a 3-2 comeback win against Oregon on Sept. 5. • Hunter has notched 50 or more assists eight times this season.• Hunter has 10 double-doubles this season.

Nebraska concluded its third and best season of beach volleyball in 2014. The Huskers went 6-2 with both losses coming to the top-two ranked teams in the nation (USC and Hawaii). NU was close to pulling off the upset on No. 1 Hawaii, taking the match down to the final pair. Nebraska finished No. 11 in the final DiG Magazine poll. Nebraska’s 6-2 record accounted for both the top winning percentage (.750) and most wins in program history. The Huskers ended the season by capturing the Arizona Wildcat Spring Challenge with a perfect 3-0 record, including a 3-2 upset against No. 11 Arizona in the final match. Justine Wong-Orantes and Alicia Ostrander formed NU’s top pair and posted an 8-5 record. Kelly Hunter and Kadie Rolfzen were 8-3, as were Annika Albrecht and Cecilia Hall. Beach volleyball becomes a full-fledged NCAA Championship sport next spring.

She was also one of two freshmen on the AVCA All-North Region team.• Foecke was a two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week, earning the honor in back-to-back weeks on Sept. 14 and Sept. 21. Her first honor came after hitting .632 vs. Georgia Tech with 12 kills and no errors. ROAD WARRIORSNebraska completed the road portion of its Big Ten schedule with a 9-1 record, the best by the Huskers since joining the Big Ten and the best road record by a Big Ten team this season. The Huskers’ only road loss of the Big Ten season was in five sets at Ohio State on Oct. 3.
HUSKERS COME IN AT NO. 5 IN AVCA POLLNebraska finished the regular season ranked fifth in the AVCA Coaches Poll. The Huskers had been ranked as high as No. 3 earlier in the season, their best ranking since Oct. 14, 2012.

A two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and four-time academic All-Big Ten selection, Hall is the first member of the Husker volleyball team to receive academic all-district honors since 2013 and becomes the first first-team honoree since 2012.
OSTRANDER AND HUNTER NAMED 2015 CAPTAINSSenior outside hitter Alicia Ostrander and sophomore setter Kelly Hunter were selected team captains for the 2015 season. Ostrander enjoyed a breakout role in 2014 with 2.49 kills pet set. After the volleyball season, she will join the Nebraska women’s basketball team for their season. A standout at both sports at Gordon-Rushville High School, Ostrander practiced with both teams over the summer. Hunter, a highly touted recruit out of Papillion, Neb., took over the setter reins as a sophomore after redshirting in 2014 while Mary Pollmiller finished out her career.
NEW VIDEO BOARD ENHANCES FAN EXPERIENCE
The Bob Devaney Sports Center has a new and improved look for the 2015 season. As part of an effort to enhance the fan experience, the University of Nebraska Athletics Department and Husker volleyball program installed a new center-hung video scoreboard and new sound system over the summer. The high-definition video board by Daktronics hangs directly over the center of the Devaney Center court. The board is trapezoidal in shape and is 13-feet, six-inches tall and 28-feet wide on the two sides. The ends of the board are 13-feet, two-inches wide on top and nine-feet, five-inches wide on bottom.
