Page 3: NEA and Economic Stimulus

• Get the pork barrel spending out! $300,000 for a sculpture garden through the NEA is unneccesary. -Republican Representative Eric Cantor, VA

• We have real people out of work...putting $50 million in the NEA and pretending that’s going to save jobs...is disingenuous. -Republican Representative Jack Kingston, GA

Non-Supporter Interests & Positions (culture clash and agenda fulfillment)

• Coburn Amendment: Oklahoma Senator: “None of the amounts appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act may be used for any casino or other gambling establishment, aquarium, zoo, golf course, swimming pool, stadium, community park, museum, theater, art center, and highway beautification project.” Passed 73-24; AFA convinced Congress that nonprofit arts organizations and artists contribute to the workforce and economy.
