Twopassesforeachweeklypaperrepresented.TheNDHSAAwillsendStateManagersnamesofmediaattendingthetournament.• Television –Two passes are available to each television station.
GUIDELINES FOR HALF-TIME ENTERTAINMENT AT STATE TOURNAMENTSThelocalhalf-timeentertainmentcommitteemayselectpompongroups,danceteams,marchingbandsorothergroupsorindividualsonthebasisofvarietyandaudienceappeal.Theperformancetimeforeachhalf-timeislimitedtoONEgroup-nottoexceedsevenminutes.TournamentmanagerswillattempttosecureClassAperformersforClassAtournamentsandClassBperformersforClassBtournaments.
HOST CITY RESPONSIBILITIESItemswhichshouldnotbechargedtotournamentexpenseincludesuchitemsasprogrambooklets,hospitalityrooms,half-timeentertain-mentandcheerleadersupervision.Theseitemsaretheresponsibilityofthehostcityortheparticipatinggroup.
TROPHIES AND AWARDSStateClassBteamawardsareprovidedfor1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6thand7thplacewinners.Additionally,aStateTournamentParticipantawardwillbegiventotheClassB8thplaceteam.StateClassAteamawardsaregivenforplaces1stthrough6th.Eighteenindividualparticipationawardsareprovidedforcoachesandplayersfromeachoftheparticipatingteams.SchoolsmaypurchaseadditionalawardsbycontactingtheNDHSAAoffice.Amaximumof8participationawardswillbegiventothecheerleaders/mascotplus1forthecheercoach.AlsoattheClassBtournaments,aspirittrophywillbeawardedtotheschooldisplayingthebestsportsmanship/spiritandcheeringsectionateachtournament.OnlytrophiesprovidedorapprovedbytheNDHSAAandpresentedbyanNDHSAArepresentativewillbegiven.
Objectives & Goals:Torecognizedeservingyoungpeoplewhoarethe“backbone”of interscholastic activities, not necessarily the leader, but the individualwhoseparticipationinhighschoolactivitiesstrengthenstheprogramforparticipants,theschoolandthecommunity.Criteria: Applicantmustbeajuniortheyeartheapplicationissubmitted.Studentmustbeaparticipantasaplayer,manager,statisticianorotherroleinatleastoneNDHSAAsponsoredactivityinthecurrentyear.Note:Participationdoesnotnecessarilymeanexcellence,honorsorevenactiveplay.Studentmustbeagoodcitizenandrolemodeltohis/herpeersaswellasacontributortothecommunity.Thecommitteewillevaluateapplicants’essaysontheirdemonstrationofsportsmanshipandcitizenshipandhowtheapplicantfeelsthesevaluesderivedfromactivi-tieswillprovidethemlifelongbenefits.Selection Process:Oneapplicantperschoolisallowed.Apre-screeningcommitteewillnarrowtheapplicantstosixfinalists.ThefinalselectionwillbebaseduponaninterviewconductedbyaSelectionCommittee.Immediatelyfollowingtheinterviews,theresultswillbeannouncedatanNDHSAAsponsoredluncheonforfinalistsandtheirfamilies.StudentmustbeavailableforinterviewstheENTIREmorningofMay4.Deadlines: CompletedapplicationformsmustbepostmarkednolaterthanApril1.ApplicationspostmarkedafterApril1willnotbeconsidered.Finalistswillbenotifiedbymid-April.InterviewsandtheluncheonannouncingtheresultswillbeheldonMay4th.Awards:AllapplicantsoftheNDHSAADistinguishedStudentProgramwillreceiveacertificatesuitableforframing.Apressreleasenamingallapplicantswillbesentstatewide.FinalistswillbefeaturedintheSeptemberissueoftheNDHSAABulletin.TheywillalsobeinvitedtoparticipateinotherfunctionsconnectedwithNDHSAAevents.FarmersUnionInsurancehasgraciouslyfundedscholarshipsforthefinalists.TheNDHSAADistinguishedStudentrecipientwillreceivea$2,000scholarshiptothecollegeofhis/herchoice.Therunner-upwillreceivea$1,000scholarship.Theotherfourfinalistswillreceivea$500scholarshiptothecollegeofhis/herchoice.TheDistinguishedStudentwillbeinvitedtobetheGrandMarshalloftheNDHSAAParadeofChampionsand,alongwiththeotherfinalists,participateinotheractivitiessuchasservingastheNDHSAAspokespersonforHighSchoolActivitiesMonth,promotingthevaluesofactivityprogramsandparticipatinginawardingoftrophiesatNDHSAAstatecontests.
