Modern World GCSE paper I
Tuesday 3 June 2008
Section C 7(a)(b)(c) – 45 minutes
L1 [1] Describes source. Simplistic analysis. Agrees OR Disagrees
L2 [2-4] Describes source. Agrees AND Disagrees but must provide AT LEAST one reason. i.e. A disaster as he was stuck in prison, not a disaster as he wrote the book that became the blueprint for his actions/success later
L3 [5-7] As per L2 + SUPPORTED CONCLUSION LINKS IN WITH PROPHETIC NATURE OF WRITING FROM 1923.
Nb – IF CANDIDATE PUTS POSTER BY THE NAZIS = 0
L1 [1] Describes the poster/detail and surface knee jerk reasons “i.e. to get people to vote for....”
L2 [2-4] Gives reasons why poster is published but not knee jerk ones. Election campaigns in 1932. SDP = main political opponents to Nazis with KPD.
L3 [5-7] Uses CK to explain WHY published. Backdrop of the Nazis were biggest party in Reichstag but no overall majority. SPD losing support and worried about Nazi targetting of workers/unemployed. Must place into context of Great Dep = L3 , otherwise L2.
L1 [1] Describes sources and briefly discusses how useful to historian. Stock answers. Primary source etc
L2 [2-3] “It is useful because” Lists detail linked into CK – Year, Goebbels, Nuremberg rallies used pre-1933....
L3 [4-5] “It isn’t useful because....” Nothing on role of terror, backstairs intrigue. It’s from 1932 – doesn’t gain power until 1933 etc.
L4 [6] As per aspects of L2 + L3 detail with a Balanced argument and supported conclusion.
