Downtown norfolk Dog Walk (B-3) Located next door to 400 Granby Street, the Downtown Norfolk Dog Walk was opened in response to the city’s growing pet population. The miniature dog park was created for Downtown’s furry residents with the help of Marathon Development in partnership with the City of Norfolk and the Downtown Norfolk Council. With water on site and plenty of room to run in an enclosed area, Downtown’s dogs (and their humans) can enjoy the park every day from sunrise to sunset.
elizabeth river trail The 10.5 mile Elizabeth River Trail, which runs from Norfolk State University following the Elizabeth River northward to Terminal Boulevard, began with an abandoned railroad spur being transformed into a walking and bicycle trail. The Trail can be accessed at various points along the Elizabeth River including Town Point Park, the end of Southampton Avenue near the Public Health Building, and at Claremont Avenue near Raleigh Avenue in West Ghent. The trail offers scenic views of the Elizabeth River and interpretive markers tell the history of the area and environment. A Message from the President Don’t you just love Downtown Norfolk? Not only are we the cultural center of the region, with stellar museums, the beautiful NEON District, and an ever-growing list of entertainment options, but we are also home to innovative concepts in shopping, education, and office space, including Selden Market’s retail incubator, NSU and ODU’s Innovation Centers, and plenty of new co-working spaces. Add to that our amazing restaurants and a breathtaking and accessible waterfront, and we’re pretty sure you’ll never want to leave.
With all of these amazing things to see and do, we thought you could use a little help finding it all. Each year, we print the Downtown Guide to do just that and to help you plan every visit to Downtown Norfolk.
Downtown Norfolk Council (DNC) was founded in 1979, and today we are proud to boast nearly 400 business and individual members with a vested interest in Downtown Norfolk. All DNC members receive a complimentary listing in this guide.
Whether you are visiting for the first time or are one of our many friends and residents, we hope you will find this guide to be a helpful resource in planning your time with us in Downtown Norfolk. We think you will quickly discover why we are so in love with the place!
Sincerely,
Mary B. Miller, President and CEO, Downtown Norfolk Council
