With this project you will be focusing on creating a mandala using natural objects like stones, leaves, flowers, and twigs. 1. Start by gathering natural objects as stated above. They can all be the same or different! Make sure you are not hurting any plants and that you have permission to pick them by the owners. 2. Create a flat surface for yourself no smaller than the size of 1 foot by 1 foot. You can prepare a background for yourself. Is it your beautiful wood or tiled floors? Or is it colored paper or a patterned bed sheet? Have the background go with the natural items you picked. 3. Now start by creating a mandala design. A mandala is a circularly rhythmed design created to achieve a flowing continuous meditative piece. Place your objects using circular symmetry while keeping in mind the movement and continuity. TOPIC- Nature Mandala Don’t forget to use this circular symmetry to create your natural mandala design in a BALANCED way. If you decide to create your piece outdoors, consider the wind as a factor. Try to use VARIETY when picking your natural items, as well as PROPORTION to vary the size of your items. Gather your items and keep in mind- UNITY, how well do the colors/shapes/textures of the leaves, rocks, flowers, twigs play off of one another. Do you want bigger leaves as your base to start your design on top of? Do you have any other natural elements you can add such as crystals or butterfly wings? ALL items must have originated in nature. (no fake butterfly wings for example). Assignment 7 BE SURE TO USE THE DISTANCE LEARNING PROCEDURES TO SUBMIT YOUR PIECES! MORE on next slides
