Golden rule: we must respect electricity.

Electric shock can affect your entire body - it can even paralyse or kill you.  You can be shocked from anything that is plugged into the mains.

What to do if someone hassuffered an electrical shock

Gr 5 Natural Sciences and Technology – Term 3, Topic 3

1. Do not touch the person until you are sure that they are not in contact with the electrical source, because the electrical current could pass through you too if the electrical source is not switched off.

2. Turn off the source of electricity if possible or move the source of electricity away from the injured person with a well-insulated object e.g. a wooden broom handle.
