In 1900 our oceans contained at least six times more fish than 2009

CAN WE STOP OVERFISHING?

Worldwide about 90% of the stocks of large predatory fish stocks are already gone, Forever. That includes tasty dinner favorites like tuna and cod.

To continuously catch more fish than the system can naturally produce.

NATSCA

Is it actually bad if the fish stocks disappear?

Maybe. Some fish can be savedIf we act now.

Millions of people rely on fisheries for their employmentOne billion people rely on fish as a key source of daily protein(that’s one in every seven humans alive on our planet)

Unless the current situation improves, stocks of all species currently fished for food predicted to COLLAPSED BY 2048.

Plenty of fish in the sea?

85% of the world’s fisheries are fully exploited, over exploited, depleted recovering from depletion.

Fishing industry support th livelihoods of 540 million approximately 8% of world’s population. The collapse fish stocks will lead to devastating effects to income and malnutrition to the world’s poorest nations relied upon the industry.

AQUAPONICS

• Higher production rate • Provides income from two separate

products• Aquacultural waste products are used • A lot of current research and

improvements going on

• Natural fertilizer

• Good marketing – labelling

Growing Indoors

• Can be used underground and indoors

• Artificial lighting

• May be a life-saviour in post-apocalyptic scenario

helps conserve

water

"By growing our crops vertically, we are able to pack more plants per acre than we would have in a field farm, which results in more harvests per year" Robert Colangelo, founding farmer/president of Green Sense Farms

“We produce little waste, no agricultural runoff and minimal greenhouse gasses because the food is grown where it is consumed.”

increased production

economic benefitto the grower

NATSCA

Benefits:

• Our system use up to 98% less water than conventional farming method• Produces up to 10x more vegetables and crops in the same

amount of space• Uses up to 75% less energy than almost any other farming

method• Guaranteed to be free from chemical fertilizers, pesticides

herbicides, fungicides.• Half of the labor is required by almost all other food production

methods• Eliminates weeds, pests, diseases, viruses, and pathogens• Can be applied in any situation and can be any size• Truly sustainable closed loop systems are created that provide all

the needs.

Trout•Great for cool temperatures (10°C -20°C)•Very fast growth rate•Excellent food conversion ratiosCarp•Good reproductive capabilities•Can adapt easily in various environments

Catfish•Need to be skinned because they don’t have scales•Fast growing•Good food conversion ratio

Largemouth Bass•Very varied diet•Small largemouth bass tastier in low temperature water

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS• LOCAL ACCESS

ROADTHE ZONE INCLUDES A STRATEGICALLY IMPORTANT ACCESS ROAD. THIS IMPORTANCE EMANATE FROM THE VICINITY OF KALIBO, AS AKLAN WEST ROAD SERVES AS AN IMPORTANT ACCESS ROUTE TO/FROM THE CAPITAL OF AKLAN AND TO/FROM OTHER PROVINCES.

• NEIGHBORING ACTIVITIES

GIVEN THE SITE’S LOCATION, THE ROUTE TO THE SITE PASSES THROUGH HOTELS, RESORTS AND OTHER ATTRACTIONS HARMONIZES THE OBJECTIVE OF BUIDLING AN INTEGRATED SUSTAINABLE SEAPORT.

• AIRPORT CONNECTIONS

THIS REFERS BOTH TO PHYSICAL ROAD CONNECTIONS AND TO BUSINESS SERVICE CONNECTIONS. BOTH ASPECTS ARE IMPORTANT.

SWOT ANALYSIS

OPPORTUNITIES• GEOGRAPHIC

LOCATIONCATICLAN JETTY PORT’S LOCATION NEAR THE BOARACAY ISLAND MAKES IT AN IDEAL PLACE FOR THIS TYPE OF DEVELOPMENT. ITS POSITION MAKES IT AN IDEAL LOCATION FOR HUBBIN, STARTING, AND ENDING CRUISES IN CATICLAN

• SUPPORT FACILITIES

IN ORDER TO MAKE THE DEVELOPMENT MORE ECONOMICALLY ATTRACTIVE, IT IS REALISED THAT OTHER FACILITIES WILL BE NEEDED IN ORDER TO SUPPORT, ENCOURAGE, AND INCREASE THE VIABILITY OF THE PRIMARY FUNCTION.

• OTHER RELATED PROJECTS

FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS FOR HOTEL AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES ARE SIGNIFICANT.

• AIRPORT INFRASTRACTURE

GODOFREDO P. RAMOS AIRPORTIS AFEW MINUTES DRIVE FROM THE SITE. THROUGH INCREASED COLLABORATION WITH THE CRUISE OPERATORS, AND SEA PASSENGER TERMINAL OPERATORS, DIRECT LINK WOULD FACILITATE EASY, FAST AND EFFICIENT TRASPORTATION OF PASSENGERS AND LUGGAGE WOULD BE POSSIBLE
