During the II. World War thousands of Polish people escaped to Hungary
These days 7000 Polish people live in Hungary
The eighth biggest nationality in Hungary
One third of them live in Budapest
Polish and Hungarian history
• We have common history as the Polish and Hungarian Kingdom was neighbours for centuries
• I. Lajos was our first common King, and many times Polish king sat on the Hungarian throne (Jagellók) or a Hungarian was wreathed as Polish King for example István Báthory
• Lot of Polish soldiers fought side by side with Hungarians in the War of Independence of 1848-49 against the Habsburgs

Their self-government was established in 1995

Every spring the Greek Festival is organised in Pécs
During this time we can learn the Greek people’s culture (music, dance, theatre, fine arts) who live in Hungary

Every year the Day of Greek and Hungarian Friendship is organised in this village
