Eliminate fraud/corruption within the road transport sector
Improve efficiency and effectiveness in resources utilization
TIMS is a portal based system that incorporates all functions of registration, licencing, inspection and enforcement of all motor vehicles and trailers online. It is designed to achieve the following objectives:-
Provide single window single source of truth on road transport data
Improve on compliance to traffic rules and enforcement
Improve access and security to information
Integration of all existing heterogeneous databases from the various Transport stakeholders into one Central Data Repository (CDS)
Provide access to shared transport data both through the internet and Mobile
technologies

Centralize road transport data and provide secure
access to this data to citizens and stakeholder
organizations;
Allow real time tracking and monitoring of PSV
vehicles; support intelligent traffic
management; and
The TIM system is expected to provide an integrated technology solution that will:
Automate the road transport processes;
Provide online access to citizen services;
Automate enforcement of traffic laws.

The ICT Directorate in conjunction with Registration and Licensing Directorate embarked ontesting the Motor Vehicle Registration and Motor Vehicle Inspection Modules. A total of 169vehicles have been registered in the MVR Module and 10 Commercial vehicles, 8 PSV vehicleshave been inspected through the MVI Module in the Pilot Phase of TIMS
