CDPNB is coordinated by GSI and has the mission of

advising directly the President of the Republic, through a high

level collegiate, on the establishment of guidelines and goals for

the development and the following up of the BRAZILIAN NUCLEAR

PROGRAM, in order to contribute to the NATIONAL

DEVELOPMENT and to the promotion of BRAZILIAN SOCIETY

WELFARE.

PURPOSE

“(…) to guide planning, actions and nuclear and radioactive activities in the

homeland, according to the national sovereignty, focusing on the

development and on the protection of the human health and of the

environment.”

• Fills a gap of about 60 years;

• It presents the objectives for the various

segments of the nuclear sector (health,

energy, industry, personnel training, etc.);

• Legal frame of reference for the Brazilian

Nuclear Program;

• Its promulgation legitimizes and strengthens

several and necessary actions to be

undertaken in the nuclear sector; and

• Allows to restructure the governance of the

Brazilian nuclear sector.

RMB AND NUCLEAR MEDICINE EXPANSION

RMB is fundamental to provide the country autonomy in the production of radioisotopes used in health procedures.

It is necessary to expand access to nuclear medicine in Brazil. The decrease

in feedstock costs will increase the service provided by SUS.

Not only the self-sufficiency in 99Mo production will be achieved, but also

the nationalization of all radioisotopes produced by international reactors

for medical application in diagnosis and therapy.

Security in the supply of radioisotopes, especially the 99Mo, is paramount

to ensure the success of the ENEMN in Brazil.



RMB IN NUMBERS

1. Radioisotope production for more than 30

different types of radiopharmaceuticals;

2. Immediate possibility of doubling the number of

annual nuclear medicine procedures;

3. Guarantee of stability in the supply of

radioisotopes;

4. Contribute to expanding the number of clinics and

hospitals offering nuclear medicine services;

5. Saving over $ 15 million per year with import

costs.24






- Invested until 2018: R$ 235 million;

- Amount to be invested: R$ 2 billion;

- Definition of Capitalization Model, involving the

increase of the Union's interest in the capital of a

non-dependent state company;

- Basic project completed;

- Detailed project in progress; and

- Fuel infrastructure for operational RMB.

The RMB is a highly strategic project,

conceived as a State Planning.

Its development is following aside with

the development purposes of the

Brazilian Nuclear Program and will

greatly contribute to the national

development and well-being of Brazilian

society.
