Aims of the NT Program (Strategic Action Plan)
• Secure sustainable growth potential – by developing new nanotechnologies and products– By establishing major infrastructures for NT research
within 5 years, 2016-2020– By improving world top level competitiveness by 2020
• Develop world class technologies
• Strengthen the global competitiveness of Malaysian industries – by developing key NT technologies and combining
them with existing technologies such as IT, BT and ET.
• Improve the quality of life – through improving diagnostic and therapeutic
technologies, – solving environmental problems, – establishing high speed communication networks, and – developing new energy conversion/storage materials.

Nano Safety Activity
Background
Ensuring the safe developments and applicationsof nanotechnology have been one of the majorNational Nanotechnology Directorate activities. The main emphasis of the proposed program ison impact assessment of engineerednanomaterials and nano products on the safetyof workers, consumers and environment that arerelevant to Malaysian industries.
The country recognized Nanotechnology is the technology of the 21st century that will give a very large impact to the country's socio-economic
The development of nanotechnology in Malaysia needs to be strengthened and adjusted to enable it to support the transformation programme and thus to contribute positively to economic growth
The National Nanotechnology policy statement translated through the implementation of the plan of action based on the 6 strategic thrust supported by 24 programme
