Dr. Manmohan Singh, Former Prime Minister of India has declared 22 nd December as the National Mathematics Day during 125th birth anniversary celebration of Srinivasa Ramanujan held at Madras University . The Department of Mathematics, MVJ College of Engineering celebrated 130 th birth anniversary of Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan on 22.12.2017 between 9.30 am to 12.30 pm at Seminar Hall – 4 in the presence of Vice Principal Prof. M.Brindha and Principal Dr.N. Gunasekaran . There were a total of 90 participants from various departments. The chief guest of the day was Dr. T. N.Shanmugam, Former Professor and Director CIPR, Department of Mathematics , Anna University, Chennai , Tamil Nadu. And the Guest of Honor was Dr. Krushna Chandra Gouda, Senior Scientist, CSIR Fourth Paradigm Institute Bangalore, Karnataka , who got selected for the CSIR Raman research Fellowship Award from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi for the year 2017, was received by the HOD Mrs A.Sonia at 9.15 AM. The program started at 9.45 AM with an invocation song (Ms.Sneha, 2 nd year IS branch) and the master of ceremony was given by Mrs. G. Sangeetha and Mrs.Leera Dezlin Rebello, Assistant Professors, Department of Mathematics. Dr. NidhiVaishnaw, AP, Department of Mathematics gave the welcome speech and Mrs. A.Sonia, HOD, Department of Mathematics introduced the Chief guest Dr T.N.Shanmugam.
