NCPIE Risk Communications ProjectNCPIE Risk Communications Project

NCPIE will conduct a national survey of consumers’ and healthcare providers’ knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding medication risk communications.

NCPIE will extrapolate key finding from the survey research to develop and conduct and assess a national risk communications campaign through traditional and social media channels addressing medication risk reduction to promote safe and appropriate medicine use.

The research initiative is being conducted with input from the Johns Hopkins Center for Drug Safety and Effectiveness, (CDSE), a new center jointly supported by the Bloomberg School of Public Health and Johns Hopkins Medicine.

NCPIE has been awarded a collaborative agreement grant from the FDA to develop and implement a medication risk and drug safety communications research agenda and educational initiative.

NCPIE will convene a multi-stakeholder project advisory to provide expert guidance and input on the formulation, implementation planning and assessment of optimal communications strategies, pathways/channels and educational programs for communicating essential medication safety and risk information to key target audiences – including consumers and healthcare professionals.
