PROGRAMME INFORMATION On this programme students explore ways in which a support worker can work in collaboration with consumers/tāngata whai ora who have diverse backgrounds in health care needs. This programme consists of five compulsory modules and four optional modules. To achieve this qualification 105 credits need to be gained in total. Compulsory modules include the following: Building Relationships Establish and maintain supportive relationships with consumers/ tangata whai ora. Rights and Responsibilities Legislation, safety and te Tiriti, in relation to mental health and addiction support work services. Mental Health Realities Understanding mental health and addiction issues across the lifespan and interventions and treatments that contribute to recovery. Interventions in Partnership Describe aspects of working with families and whanau in mental health support work; clarify the relationship with the family or whanau ofa consumer/tangata whai ora; and to provide the family or whanau with information and education. Wellbeing Understand the factors, interventions, models and support to maintain wellness.
