Nathan’ LockdownExactly when did 2011 begin to xceed Nathan’

xpectations? It’s a hard question to answer. Nathan came from the slums of Birmingham to hitting

big stages like the indigo 02 Arena in London, and he done it in the space of only a year, kind of what Drake done who is a big sensation globally right now. Some say Nathan may even follow in his footsteps and some say he will make a breakthrough in America just like Tinie Tempah has done in recent months.

“The thing that makes him so special is that he is himself and doesn’t try to copy other big named artists” A lot of UK male rap artists have recently been criticised for trying too hard to be like artists like; Jay-Z, Kanye West, Eminem, and even Drake. The thing that seems to make you hit the big time at this moment in time is being unique and being your own artist rather than a gimmick of someone who already exists, something X-Factor has constantly been blamed for doing as well as making the

music industry look like an easy business to get into.

There hasn’t really been a female UK R’n’B or Rap Artist to fully represent Great Britain and the hidden talent that it has, maybe this is that time, but I hope Nathan doesn’t think it’s going to be an easy ride with new comer Chipmunk doing it “like a brother, do it like a dude”.

Nathan has already been nominated for best male new comer at the MOBO Awards, and there are rumours going around that he has been having deep conversa-tions with Birdman the Head Executive of Young Money and Cash Money Records. Signing with them would allow Nathan’ to work alongside artists like Lil Wayne, Bow Wow, Drake, and fellow British artist Jay Sean.

How has the music industry treated you so far?It has been crazy, the buzz that has come in the last few months has been amazing and i only have my fans to thank for that.

Do you expect to get to No. 1 on the UK Charts?i donkty ‘expect’ anything but what i do know is that anything is possible so i will keep that in mind.

When did you first discover that you had a talent?I always knew that i had a talent because everyone has a talent but i didn’t figure out what that talent was until i was about 16.

People have compared you to many artists in the music industry, does that flatter you?I appreciate the positive feedback from my fans but i will always like to be known for being myself, i like to think i’m different from the rest.

What are your goals for this year?Well my one and only goal is to get bigger and bigger as the year goes on to be honest.

Who’s your favourite artist at the moment?At the moment...... it will have to be Ryan Leslie, purely based on how much time and effort he puts into every song he produces.

Okayy you’ have mentioned an American artist, but who’s your favourite UK Artist?Right now or ever?.....

Right now...It would have to be C4 from Birmingham, his new tune Off Track wentt ‘OFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!’ he makes me so proud to be from Birmingham.

What genre of music do you listen to the most?Hmmm... that’s a hard one, it’s between Hip-Hop and Slow Jamz, probably Slow Jamz.

I know it’s a long time from now but what do you plan to achieve before you retire from the music industry?i plan to become one of he greats, infact i won’t retire until i get that recognision, i want people to see the hard work i’m willing to put in.

Are you in a relationship?That’s for me to know and for you NOT to find out.
