What Goes Into Making a Decision? Good decisions...bad
decisions. Have you
ever stepped back and
thought about why you
made certain choices?
What made you decide
to eat that cookie for
breakfast instead of
fruit? Why did you not
talk during class? Of
course these are very
simple decisions that
we make everyday….but
they are still decisions.
The decisions we make are strongly influenced by the expectations
and values that others place on us. The ability to “stop and think
before taking action” is what helps us make better decisions. Here
are some questions to think about:
(1) What would happen if you made the wrong decision?
(2) Was there anything that helped you make a good choice?
(3) Do you ever seek input from others when making decisions?
It’s a Matter of Record and Participation
One decision each 4-H member made at the beginning of the year was
whether or not to complete a 4-H Portfolio & Project Book or
Participate in 8 activities. 4-H Members who complete the task earn
the privilege to attend 4-H Experience the Fun Day in May! Project
Books & Portfolios AND the 8 Activities Forms are DUE APRIL 15th!
Don’t miss out! Need help? Ask your 4-H Club Leader or contact
the 4-H Office.

Masks tend to carry within them the stories of the cultures from which they originate
as well as reflect the tone and theme of the ritual celebrations of life for which they
are used. The masks of Mardi Gras carry this history as well. WE WANT YOU TO
DESIGN A MASK! Basic rules: (1) must be able to wear it (2) must incorporate 4-H,
Louisiana, & Mardi Gras! For a complete list of contest rules contact Mrs. Gwen at the
4-H Office. Entries are due to the 4-H Office on Friday, February 14.
February 17: Pecan, Poultry and Seafood Cookery Contest Are you a great chef? Do you love to cook? Why not showcase your tasty dish at the
Pecan, Poultry and Seafood Cookery on February 17th. The event will take place at
the Natchitoches Parish 4-H Office. Check-in is at 11:00 a.m. and Judging begins at

This conference provides the opportunity for youth to come together to further learning and
developing their leadership and teamwork skills. A variety of workshops are conducted on

educational workshops.
