If you do not turn away from the pursuit of knowledge,
You, in turn, can lead the way.
If your tree bears the fruit of knowledge,
Its force can surely bring down the sphere of heaven.

The Institute of Ismaili Studies promotes scholarship andlearning on Islam, with an emphasis on Shi‘ism in generaland the Ismaili tradition in particular and cultivates a betterunderstanding of their relationship with other faiths andsocieties.
The Institute’s programmes are not confined to thetheological heritage of Islam, but explore the relationship ofreligious ideas to broader dimensions of society and culture. These programmes encourage an inter-disciplinary approachto the materials of Islamic history and thought. Particularattention is given to issues of modernity that arise as Muslimsseek to relate their heritage to contemporary situations.
Nasir Khusraw’s life and work bridge many regions, peoplesand cultures. One of the main objectives of this Conferenceis to celebrate his contribution through an intellectualdialogue that brings that diversity together whileremembering that his voice echoes a universal and pluralisticspirit. It is in that respect that Nasir Khusraw is not just afigure of the past or "yesterday", but of the present and thefuture. We welcome you to the Conference in that spirit andlook forward to building strong foundations and connectionsfor our common intellectual endeavours.
