One of the most critical activities performed by the CIOis planning.In many industries, MIS has emerged as a keycompetitive weapon. For example, consumers oftendifferentiate firms in the banking, insurance, andfinancial services industries based on the convenience of their system.The spending level on MIS-related tasks is growing, thusincreasing the importance of planning expenditurescarefully. Although the level of spending has increased,the ease in cost justifying many MIS related purchaseshas not.
